Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) wins coveted Chancellor Gold Medal Award on graduation day at Management and Science University (MSU)

High-achiever Arivananthan Kanakasundar had received the Dean’s Award five times and the President’s Award three times. He had won the Pitch for Progress Competition organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, as well as the Junainah Abdul Hamid Award for Best Research at the 8^th Medical and Health Sciences Symposium organized by MSU. He had also made the national finals at the Maybank Go Ahead Challenge 2017. The son of a lorry driver had never dreamed he could have come this far but that is exactly what he accomplished.

 

And as far as accomplishments go, Ari’s speak volumes. A member of the Chamber of Social Responsibility (CSR) Malaysia, he is also a member on the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme. He represented MSU at the Inter-Varsity Parasitology Quiz and Oratorical Competition 2016. He also presented his research at the 7^th Malaysian Symposium of Biomedical Science 2016, and in Singapore at the 2017 International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS) which is a member of the International Council for Science (ICSU).

 

The director of two of MSU’s Malaysia Book of Records programmes, The Highest Number of Digital Posters in a Single Competition and The Most Number of Basketball Shootouts from Free-Throw Line, Arivananthan Kanakasundar also directed the MSU programmes Student IT Skills Exhibition, Health Science Week, Fight and Flight, and Sports Science Jump Street Challenge. The president of the MSU Indian Cultural Association for the 2015/2016 session helped facilitate various activities for fellow students with MSU’s Students and Career Development (SCD) Department. Committed as he had always been to the MSU cause for community engagement, the Chancellor Gold Award winner has been instrumental in enriching the lives of many among society’s less fortunate.
