What the course will give you
The curriculum of the MSU honours degree programme in bioinformatics aims to produce graduates well-versed in the science of bioinformatics and its application in research and development of new drugs. You will train in the computing skills necessary to solving contemporary problems in biology and medicine, using software and datasets and creating simple bioinformatics tools.
Your lecturers are industry professionals, and the learning opportunities and experiences we provide you will add depth and breadth to your understanding and develop both your vocational and life skills. An internship at the end of your studies ensures you graduate industry-ready for a career in bioinformatics.

Where the qualification may lead you to
You may seek positions such as bioinformatician, computer programmer, or research assistant in development of new drugs. Your area of employment would mainly be the pharmaceutical industry.
Who may enrol
You need a Pass at SPM level with a Credit in Bahasa Melayu AND a pass at STPM level with at least THREE (3) C’s including in Pengajian Am / Kertas Am (General Studies / General Paper) or TWO (2) C’s including in Pengajian Am / Kertas Am (General Studies / General Paper) plus TWO (2) D’s; OR a Pass in THREE (3) subjects at A-level; OR an MSU Foundation Certificate; OR an MSU or a PTPL Diploma/Certificate OR an equivalent qualification recognized by MSU Senate.
Bachelor (Hons) in Bioinformatics (BBI) is a three-year career-focused industry-developed programme of MSU’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS).
