What the course will give you
The curriculum of the MSU bachelor programme in nursing aims to produce graduates able to integrate knowledge and skills in local and global healthcare settings. You will be equipped with knowledge of anatomy and physiology, microbiology and parasitology, also pharmacology, and be skilled in psychology, sociology, counseling, obstetrics and gynaecology nursing, paediatric nursing, gerontology nursing, mental health and psychiatric nursing, eye and ENT nursing, and health promotion and education, among others.
You will also be prepared for nursing research and professional nursing management, by lecturers who are industry professionals themselves. The learning opportunities and experiences you receive will add depth and breadth to your understanding and develop both your vocational and life skills. Attachment with our partner hospitals and community health clinics towards the end of your programme completion ensures your industry readiness for a career in nursing.

Where the qualification may lead you to
There is high demand for nurses worldwide, with international placements as far as the Middle East and Australia. After some years of clinical experience, you may also work as a Nursing Educator and Clinical Instructor at institutions of higher learning offering medical/nursing-related programmes.
Who may enrol
You need to have passed SPM or equivalent and obtained FIVE (5) Credits including TWO (2) from Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics, ONE (1) from General Science, Biology, or Chemistry with a Pass in Biology, or Physics and Biology, and TWO (2) from other subjects. You also need a Pass in SPM English Language and to have obtained ONE (1) of the following: passed STPM or equivalent with at least 2.5 CGPA, A-level with at least three (3) C’s, Diploma in Science with at least 2.5 CGPA (credit transfer not permissible), or MSU Foundation in Science with at least 2.5 CGPA. You must pass MUET with at least Band 3, or IELTS and scoring at least 5.5, or TOEFL and scoring at least 515/215/80.
International candidates presenting equivalent qualifications must first obtain MSU Senate approval. You must also demonstrate proficiency in conversational Malay.
Bachelor in Nursing (Hons) (BNS) is a four-year career-focused industry-developed programme by the Department of Healthcare Professional (DHP) at the MSU Faculty of Health & Life Sciences (FHLS).
