The 19th Convocation Ceremony of Management & Science University (MSU)
Management & Science University (MSU) has just concluded its 19th Convocation. The three-session event, held in the MSU Chancellor Hall at its Shah Alam campus, presented 1,719 new graduates from across 71 programmes of study.
Nineteen graduates received their PhD, 49 their Master’s degree, 977 their bachelor’s degree, and 674 their Diploma. MSU’s 19th Convocation also presented pioneer graduates of the Bachelor in Fashion Design with Marketing (Hons) programme from the School of Hospitality & Creative Arts (SHCA). Fifty-three graduates received the five special awards: the Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award (1 winner), the President’s Award (2 winners), the Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstanding Award (2 winners), the Academic Award (23 winners), and the Industry Award (25 winners).
The winner of the Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award is Wong Kah Leong, graduate of Bachelor in Education (TESL) (Hons) from the School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS) and valedictorian of the Class of 2016. Nur Farhana Nadirah Hassan, graduate of Bachelor in Finance (Hons) from the Faculty of Business Management & Professional Studies (FBMP), is also valedictorian of the Class of 2016 and the winner of the Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstanding Award. Another winner of the Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstanding Award is Erabaddage Gishan Tharanga Sumanasiri, who graduated with a PhD in Management/Business from the Graduate School of Management (GSM). The two winners of the President’s Award are Ahmed Fairuz Yakob from the Bachelor in Computer Forensics (Hons) programme of the Faculty of Information Sciences & Engineering (FISE) and Nurzafrina Ahmad Mustakim from the Diploma in Management programme of the Faculty of Business Management & Professional Studies (FBMP).
Preceding the 19th Convocation was a Special Convocation conferring the Honorary Doctorate in Social Works to the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah, Founder and Patron of Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Sultanah Haminah (YAYSH), a Foundation for orphans. Her Majesty the Queen, who is also MSU Chancellor, presented graduation scrolls to 346 graduates in the first session of the two-day event.
