Champion innovators from Management and Science University (MSU) haul four gold plus special award at design and innovation PERINTIS 2016
Innovations make life a little better across communities. Management and Science University (MSU) continues to sparkle with innovations, sweeping five medals and a special award at the 2016 PERINTIS design and innovation competition for private institutions of higher education.
Besting other gold medallists for the PERINTIS Most Promising Invention Award was the Halal Soap Formulation for Halal Household Detergent from the MSU School of Graduate Studies. The innovation by Prof. Dato’ Dr Asbi Ali had also bagged gold in the Living Necessities category.
Two more gold medals were contributed by the MSU Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering; a New Technique for Welding Dissimilar Steels by Dr Mohammed N. Abdulrazaq in the Advanced Materials category, and a Real-Time Monitoring System for Baby Health by both Dr Musab A. M. Ali and Dr Safaa Najah Saud in the Engineering and Technology category. A Mangosteen-Pericarp-Extract Medical Chitosan Patch innovation from MSU School of Pharmacy’s Dr Erwin Martinez Faller received a bronze in the Sports and Health category.
The biennial PERINTIS is co-organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), backed by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE). PERINTIS criteria include novelty/originality, creativity/innovation, problem solving/applicability, and commercial value/marketability. PERINTIS 2016, themed “Better Brighter for Sustainable Future” and held in Putrajaya, recorded the participation of seven private universities and four high schools. Management and Science University (MSU) is set to host the third edition of PERINTIS in 2018.
