University Global Leadership Programme Realizes Dream of Community-Engaged Student to Represent Malaysia at the World Youth Congress 2017
Young people have a vital role to play everywhere, and to Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Rawi, especially in community engagement and volunteer work. Management and Science University (MSU) picks the very involved undergraduate to represent Malaysia at the World Youth Congress (WYC) 2017 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
It looks like early steps to a potential future career for the community-engaged MSUrian. A first-year student on the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours) programme at the Management and Science University (MSU) International Medical School (IMS), Muhammad Farhan’s exposure to community engagement has been extensive. He has volunteered at a rehabilitation centre for substance abusers. He has had sessions of learning from prominent international and local figures speaking at the Nation Building School, a youth organization in Kuala Lumpur. He has also participated in the activities of the Global Shapers Community Kuala Lumpur, a network of socially engaged youth leaders, and in the inaugural Youth Economic Forum in Malaysia. Attending the World Youth Congress 2017 had been a dream, one now realized by Management and Science University (MSU).
The World Youth Congress (WYC) is a community-centred programme run and funded by Peace Child Hawaii and the Steven World Peace Foundation with the support of the United Nations (UN) Association Hawaii. The 2017 edition of the weeklong international meet focuses on UN Sustainability Goals, with discussions running the range from education to health, to the environment and clean water, as well as to gender equality and zero poverty. Experiencing WYC 2017 streamlines with Farhan’s interest in public service and the experience makes for compelling learning, one that builds his soft skills as he exchanges knowledge and experience, and networks, with youth leaders from all over the world.
The support to Muhammad Farhan is characteristic of the Management and Science University (MSU) Global Leadership Programme (GLP). Along with the Global Mobility Programme (GMP) and Global Internship Programme (GIP), it is an investment in impacting lives. For over three decades, Management and Science University (MSU) has been providing compelling learning experiences that are as enriching as they are transformative. With holistic learning central to its curriculum, Management and Science University (MSU) continues developing and delivering well-rounded graduates forming the top national figure of 98.6% for employability.
