What the course will give you
The curriculum of the MSU honours degree programme in counselling and guidance factors the realities of local culture and moral values in helping relationships, equipping you for multicultural counselling, drug abuse counselling, and industrial counselling. Your subjects of study include child psychology, social psychology, organizational behavior, and personality theories, and you will be trained in helping skills.
Your lecturers are professional counsellors, and your training takes place in excellent on-campus facilities. The learning opportunities and experiences we provide will add depth and breadth to your understanding and develop both your vocational and life skills. You graduate with a host of practical, social, managerial, and entrepreneurial skills alongside core counselling and guidance skills.

You will have an important role in society, with a wide range of careers open to you in the stressful, fast-paced 21st-century life. Besides the job title of Counsellor, equally suitable positions open to you may include Welfare or Social Services Officer, or Marriage and Family Therapist. You may also work across various industries besides care-giving and rehabilitation, including computers and technology.
Who may enrol
You need at least THREE (3) C’s including in Pengajian Am / Kertas Am (General Studies / General Paper) or TWO (2) C’s including in Pengajian Am / Kertas Am (General Studies / General Paper) plus TWO (2) D’s at STPM level; OR an MSU Foundation Certificate; OR an MSU or a PTPL Diploma; OR THREE (3) A-levels; OR an equivalent qualification recognized by MSU Senate.
Bachelor (Hons) in Counseling and Guidance (BCG) is a three-year career-focused industry-developed programme of MSU’s School of Education & Social Sciences (SESS).
