What the course will give you
The MSU honours degree programme in music technology aims to develop your musical talent by providing you with the technical skills associated with creating music and producing and recording sound. Delivered by the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA), courses on the BMZ programme include music theory, fundamentals of sound, introductory audio workstation, basic electronics and audio chain, synthesis and sampling, and ear training.
Your lecturers are industry professionals who developed our curriculum and share our passion in and commitment to experiential learning. A period of industrial training at the end of your studies places you right in the heart of the job market. You graduate equipped with knowledge, skills, musicality, and industry readiness for a professional career in music technology.
How long it will take you
Where the qualification may lead you to
You may go into studio or support services or work with industry vendors. Industry job titles include Producer, Composer, Arranger, Studio Engineer, Live Sound Engineer, Sound Designer, and Production Director, among others.
Who may enrol
You need to pass STPM/A-level with at least a C (2.00 CGPA) in two (2) subjects; or pass STAM with Jayyid; or pass Diploma (MQF Level 4) in a related field, with at least 2.00 CGPA, from any institution of higher learning; or pass Matriculation/Foundation/Asasi with 2.00 CGPA from any institution of higher learning permitted to offer foundation programmes; or pass South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with a score of at least 65%-70%; or pass Canadian Pre-University Program (CPU) with a score of at least 60%; or pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a B in five (5) subjects; or other qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Government of Malaysia.
Bachelor in Music Technology is a three-and-a-half-year career-focused industry-developed programme of MSU’s School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA).
