What the course will give you
MSU’s diploma programme in music technology gives you a thorough and up-to-date grounding in the use of music technology to capture, manipulate, and produce music. You will be grounded in music theory and keyboard harmony before moving on to jingle writing. You will train in digital audio workstation, MIDI programming, and audio mastering, also learn the legal aspects of the industry. Industry relevance is emphasized throughout your skills development.

Your lecturers are industry professionals who developed our curriculum and share our passion in and commitment to experiential learning. A period of industrial internship towards the end of your studies will place you right in the heart of the job market. The real-life environment and experience we provide will give you a deep understanding of the industry and develop your entrepreneurial and business skills. You graduate industry-ready for a professional career in music technology.

2 ½ years

Where the qualification may lead you to
It will equip you with the necessary skills to work in the sound/music/film/broadcasting industry, also provide sufficient background for continuation on to related degree studies. You have ample career options in live sound, composing, recording, electronic music, game audio, multimedia, theatres, entertainment venues, tv and radio stations, also film productions. You may also go on to degree studies in a specialized area of interest.

Who may enrol
You will need at least THREE (3) Credits at SPM level; OR an equivalent qualification recognized by MSU Senate.

Diploma in Music Technology (DMZ) is a two-and-a-half-year career-focused industry-developed programme of MSU’s School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA).
