What the course will give you
The curriculum of the MSU honours degree programme in traditional Chinese medicine aims to produce highly competent professionals of Chinese medicine therapy. Affiliated with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) universities in China, MSU’s School of Pharmacy combines biomedical sciences with traditional and complementary medicinal practices in an interdisciplinary approach to teaching traditional Chinese medicine.

Your subjects of study include bio-ethics, internal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion, also medical Qigong. You will be taught by experienced, industry-expert TCM practitioners. The learning opportunities and experiences we provide will add depth and breadth to your understanding and develop both your vocational and life skills. An internship at the end of your studies ensures you graduate industry-ready for a career in traditional Chinese medicine. TCM practitioners/physicians are regulated by the Malaysian TCM Practitioners Board governed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) through the Traditional & Complementary Medicine Act.

Where the qualification may lead you to You could work in specialized Chinese pharmaceutical industry or the healthcare industry in general, also agencies such as the Ministry of Health. Besides the industry’s immediate Acupuncturist and TCM Therapist job titles, you may also seek positions of academia, teaching the subject while researching its sub-disciplines in further study, even open your own TCM clinic.

Who may enrol
You need at least 2.5 CGPA at STPM level in Science stream (for non-Science-stream STPM, 2.5 CGPA and a Credit in TWO (2) Science subjects at SPM level); OR a Full Pass in STPM Pengajian Am (General Studies) and TWO (2) other subjects, plus a Partial Pass in TWO (2) other subjects; OR TWO (2) Full Passes at A-level; OR an MSU Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine (also with at least 2.5 CGPA); OR an equivalent qualification in a related field and recognized by MSU Senate.

Bachelor (Hons) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (BTCM) is a four-year career-focused industry-developed programme of MSU’s School of Pharmacy.
