About the Course
The Bachelor in Accountancy (Honours) (BIA) is an undergraduate academic programme that leverages on a unique learning opportunity in the combined disciplines of Accounting, Law, Finance and Management. Students pursuing the programme will be exposed to both the rich tradition and rigour of the accounting and audit, as well as to the state-of-the-art technologies used in the fields of economics, management, marketing, finance and insurance. As such, graduates of the programme are expected to be competent to handle not only the common accounting transactional matters, but as well to provide advice on complex strategic issues in business decision-making process.

Entry Requirement

(i) Pass STPM or its equivalent and obtain full pass in 2 subjects including Pengajian Am (General Studies) or at least 2.00 CGPA;

    OR

(ii) Pass Foundation programme from any public or private higher learning institution (IPTA/IPTS) recognised by Ministry of Higher Education (KPTM);

    OR

(iii) Pass the South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) 70 and Grade B in 2 relevant subjects;

    OR

(iv) At least full pass in 2 A-Level subjects ;

    OR

(v) Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least grade B in 5 subjects including Mathematics;

    OR

(vi) Other equivalent qualification recognised by Malaysian Government

Career Prospect
Graduates will find many opportunities in government ministries and departments, local authorities, government enforcement agencies (income tax; immigration; custom etc.), remiser firms, private corporations and companies, consultancy firms, banks, security firms, insurance companies, multimedia telecommunication companies, marketing agencies, educational institutions, as well as international corporations and companies.

Positions that graduates can fill in the above organizations are account executive, accountant, tax advisor, auditor, internal auditor, consultant, financial controller, banker and financial planner or counsellor. Accounting students are also prepared to assume entry-level managerial positions in accounting or finance.

Other Information
To be eligible as chartered accountant, graduates should have at least three years of working experience and should apply to become a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) or sit for five (5) strategic level subjects in Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Malaysia (ACCA) examination. Graduates may sit for the examination at any time after graduating, either by following a full time study or self-tuition. They can also sit for exam while working with multi national company or other organisation which can sponsor their study.
