About the Course
Diploma in Fashion Design aimed to develop creative awareness and understanding of fashion and textiles through the practice of research, drawing and technical skills; an understanding of colour, texture, pattern and form, plus an awareness of fashion and textiles as a three dimensional experience. Hence, this programme is a great match for those who wish to devote their career to the fashion industry. The programme sets sight on preparing students in the skills, techniques and attitudes necessary for the fast growing world of fashion. Students are introduced to the research and design cycle, and they are encouraged to develop their design skills and add in individual approach to both two and three dimensional work. During their final semester, students will be required to design their own 3 mini garments collection and paraded it during their final fashion show.

Entry Requirement

(i) Pass SPM/O-Level with at least 3 credits in any subject and pass Arts Education(Pendidikan Seni);


(ii) Certificate in relevant field (Level 3 MQF) with minimum 2.0 CGPA;


(iii) Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least grade B in 3 subjects;


(iv) Other equivalent qualification recognised by Malaysian Government

Additional Requirement:
For candidates who failed or did not take the Art Education (Pendidikan Seni) paper in SPM, they must pass the interview and portfolio test conducted by the provider of higher education (PPT).

Fashion diploma graduates qualify for careers as entry-level jobs which include Assistant Designer, Cutting Assistant, Sketching Assistant, Sketcher/Assistant to The Designer, Stylist, Production Assistant, Sample Machinist, Pattern-Maker/Cutter, Cutting Assistant, Design Assistant, Sample Cutter, Merchandiser, Assistant Production Planner, Assistant Purchasing Manager, Assistant Product Manager and Junior Designer. Although we must have artistic talent for these jobs, it is important to remember that we will be following the lead of a more seasoned professional or artist.

It is good as well for graduates to build a good portfolio as it will be the key to successful career in fashion design. The portfolio should showcase a fashion designer unique style and point of view, as well as illustrating their ability to sketch, create innovative design and combine fabrics and colours in interesting ways.
