About the Course
Bachelor in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Hons) is a programme that aims to produce professional Chinese medicine practitioners with highly practical clinical competence accompanied by a strong grounding in traditional and complementary medicine practices. Affiliated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Universities in China, this programme employs an interdisciplinary approach combining biomedical sciences with traditional and complementary medicine practices and taught by highly experienced practitioners in preparing its graduates to meet the challenging endeavour as a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner.

Entry Requirement

(i) Pass STPM or its equivalent in Science Stream, with minimum 2.5 CGPA;

    OR

(ii) Pass STPM in Non-Science Stream, with CGPA of 2.5 and above, and credit in 2 Science subjects in SPM

    OR

(iii) Pass STPM with full pass in Pengajian Am (General Studies) and 2 other subjects, and obtain partial pass for 2 subjects

    OR

(iv) Pass Ministry of Education Matriculation with 2.0 CGPA;

    OR

(v) Diploma in the field of Traditional & Contemporary Medicine or equivalent Diploma with CGPA of 2.5 and above;

    OR

(vi) Diploma in the field of Traditional & Contemporary Medicine (T&CM) or equivalent Diploma with CGPA of 2.0 and above and at least 2 years working experience in related field;

    OR

(vii) A-Level with full pass in 2 subjects;

    OR

(viii) Any Diploma from higher learning institution (IPT) which is recognised by T&CM;

    OR

(ix) Recognised bachelor degree in any discipline, subject to consideration of MSU and codes of practice;

    OR

(x) Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least grade B in 5 subjects;

    OR

(xi) Other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government

Career Prospect
Upon the successful completion of this programme, graduates are expected to work efficiently in any Chinese pharmaceutical/ healthcare industries or government agency (Ministry of Health) or any relevant educational institutions as Primary or Independent Health Care Providers, Therapists, Acupuncturists or Academicians specialising in Traditional Chinese Medicine and practices.

Alternatively, graduates may set up their own TCM clinic or advance their skills and knowledge towards post-graduate levels in any traditional medicine sub-disciplines and scientific research.

Other Information
With the enforcement of the Traditional & Complementary Medicine Act, the profession as TCM practitioner/physician will be regulated by Malaysian TCM Practitioners Board under the Ministry of Health (MOH).
