Foundation in Information Technology & Engineering

Introduction

Foundation in Information Technology & Engineering is a programme designed to meet the escalating demand for highly trained and skilled resources in the areas of Information Technology and Engineering that can compete in the local as well as global job market. Students will be provided with knowledge and hands-on training on Computer Science, Programming, Networking and Multimedia as a preparation for higher level education in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology as well as Engineering. Those who wish to progress to Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering will also be required to do Engineering Drawing.

Objective

The objectives of this program are:

  1. To provide students with the basic knowledge of information technology and engineering.
  2. To expose students to the applications of theory and practical aspects of information technology and engineering in order to be efficient in task handling.
  3. To encourage active learning by using various interactive teaching techniques such as hands-on exercises and projects.
  4. To produce knowledgeable and highly competent students in the areas of information technology and engineering in upgrading the efficiency in problem solving.
  5. To instill in the students the interest and responsibility in understanding problems involving human interactions.

Learning Outcome

Upon completion of this programme, students should be able to:

  1. Apply the basics of information technology and engineering concepts in handling projects.
  2. Relate information technology and engineering with real life with the ability to apply the concepts, principles and laws that have been studied.
  3. Develop problem-solving techniques and procedures related to information technology and engineering.

Duration

One year, 3 full semesters.

  4. Computer Programming
  5. Networking
  6. Multimedia
  7. Engineering Drawing

Progression

Students who have completed Foundation in Information Technology and Engineering will be able to progress to higher level education at foreign universities under the International Students Exchange Programme (ISEP) which is a unique joint venture between MSU and its partner universities in countries like UK, USA and Australia.

The students may also choose to pursue their Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Business Computing, Computer Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering at MSU.

Entry Requirements

  1. Candidates will have to pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM or SPMV) examination or equivalent with credits 5 (FIVE) subjects that are:
    1. Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, Science and any of related subjects
      1. Physics, Add Mathematics and Economics

        AND

  2. Pass in English

Fees Structure

Your investment for a full time programme is RM11,100 (Tuition fees). Students may apply for MSU and other financial assistance.
