Bachelor in Hospitality Management - Tourism (Hons)
Introduction:
This programme is specially designed for students who are interested to venture into the field of Hospitality Management, which involves management, hospitality, tourism, food services and marketing. Student will also have the opportunity to study a foreign language such as French or Arabic. Currently the biggest contributor to the country's economy is the Hotel and Tourism Industry.
Objective:
To develop knowledgeable graduates with highly competent management skills and technical know-how of the various disciplines in this course.
Career Prospect:
Graduate with a Bachelor in Hospitality Management have an array of career choices in the tourism sector. As one sector that is rapidly expanding, degree holders are needed to hold the positions of Hotel Managers, Tourism Marketing Officers and Public Realtion Officers to name a few.
Entry Requirements:
- Minimum requirement (STPM candidates):
- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
Candidates will have to pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination or equivalent with credits in Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Melayu (Syllabus X) / Bahasa Malaysia II
AND
- Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent
Candidates will have to pass Sijil Tinggi Peperiksaan Malaysia (STPM) examination with at least:
- Pass with C grade in 3 subjects including General Studies paper OR
- Pass with C grade in 2 subjects including General Studies, and another 2 subjects with D grade OR
- Malaysian Ministry of Education's Matriculation Certificate or MSU foundation or equivalent qualification from other institutions approved by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education and accredited by Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN);
OR
- Minimum passes 3 subjects of A 'Level' (GCE)
OR
- Minimum 65-70% score for The South Australian Matriculation (SAM)
OR
- Minimum 80% score for Canadian Pre-University Program (CPU)
OR
- Diploma in related fields from PTPL/ MSU or Diploma/Certificate in related fields from Polytechnics, IPTA or accredited IPTS or other institutions recognized by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.
Course Content:
University's core (school) courses, core (programme) courses. the total credits for the compulsory subjects are 30 units, core (school) subjects are 39 units and core (programme) subjects are 51 units, with an overall total of 120 units in order for the students to graduate.
