Bachelor in Industrial Management (Hons)

Introduction:

Industrial Management is a profession which is concerned with application of mathematical methods and tools for solving problems relating to the allocation of scarce resources subject to constraints. This program provides an opportunity for employment in all of the major disciplines of Industrial Management or widely known as Operations Management. It is offered for students from applied statistics, applied science, science stream and accounting stream that have a minimum knowledge in mathematics/statistics. The program is designed to provide a decision making oriented qualification, which will prepare graduates for employment in manufacturing industry, services industry, technology and marketing research firms.

Industrial revolution has certainly changed mankind civilization. As requirement for population keep increasing, the smart way of mechanizing & supplying also evolved. This program put forward extensive understanding & knowledge of mastering the management of industry particularly manufacturing. Starting with basic business & management principles, the framework has been designed in such a way that it will benefit candidates capitalizing IT appliances to serve international operations.

It is approximately three years program with opportunity for a first year exemption for relevant diploma candidates

Core Subject Description:

a.

Advance Business Statistics

:

To equip the students to understand and perform the statistical decision making          

b.

Decision Science 1

:

Study on discipline of using a mathematical model, and other analytical methods, to help make better business managementdecisions

c.

Production System Management

:

A study on areas related to system used in managing production that includes advanced Material Requirement Planning and Master Production Scheduling.

d.

Forecasting

:

Study of forecast techniques to aid decision making process

e.

Simulation

:

A study of the essential aspects of an existing system (or a system to be constructed) which presents knowledge of that system in usable form.

f.

Optimization

:

The study of problems in which one seeks to minimize or maximize a real function by systematically choosing the values of real or integer variables from within an allowed set.

g.

Research Methodology

:

To equip the students to perform survey design and marketing research analytics.

h.

Multivariate Data Analysis

:

To equip the students to perform
advance data analytics in depth.

i.

Process and Manufacturing Technology

:

Students will be exposed to the process strategies and the technology applied in manufacturing organization.

j.

Occupational Safety and Health

:

Study on the occupational safety and health in the organizational setting.

Course Duration:

Minimum entry qualification:
Pass SPM/SPMV or equivalent - credit in BM / BM (Syllabus X) BM II;

AND

Pass STPM or equivalent with at least a) C Grade - 3 subjects including General Studies OR b) C Grade - 2 subjects including General Studies AND Passes (D, D+, C-) - 2 subjects,

OR

KPM Matriculation Certificate,

OR

A Level / Foundation or equivalent,

OR

Certificate / Diploma from PTPL / KUTPM / Polytechnic / IPTA / or other accredited IPTS, Malaysia Skill Certificate (SKM) level 4/5, and other qualifications recognized by the KUTPM senate,

AND

Possess MUET Certificate.

It may have started as production then operation and manufacturing, but the field indeed focus on the operational aspects of the industry. Graduates in this discipline will be looking forward to offer their services in various public and private sectors that include manufacturing, petroleum, banking and research entities.

Organizationally, graduates will be employed in the Manufacturing, Logistics, Safety & Quality, sectors and as Project Planner, Scheduler and Researcher. Expected monthly basic salary of RM1600-RM1800.
