Shukri Yajid Fellowship 2008 / 2009 AWARDS:

MSU invites application from individuals with proven scholastic records for full time PhD graduate studies in MSU for the 2008/2009 academic year.

Introduction:

The Shukri Yajid Fellowship is an award given to suitable candidates for graduate studies leading to PhD at MSU. The award focuses on four major areas of study namely medicine, information technology, business and management, and health sciences and it is aimed at training qualified academics to meet the demands of the global workforce. The creation of the award is parallel to the vision and leadership principles of the university's founder, Professor Mohd Shukri Ab. Yajid which is to promote scholastic excellence in the four disciplines named. The fellowship also seeks to create a worldwide interdisciplinary community and provide support and guidance to as many international graduate students as possible.

Medicine, Information & Communications Technology, Computer Science, Information Science, Software Development, e-Commerce, Graphic Design, Computer System Auditing, Computer Engineering, Game Art and Animation, International Business, Decision Science, Industrial Management, Accounting, Financing, Marketing, Event Management, Human Capital Management, Retail Management, Childhood Education, Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Law and Commerce, Hospitality Tourism, Health Sciences, Biomedicine, Bioinformatics, Food Service Technology, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Medical Sciences, Nursing, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Medical Dietetics and Forensic Sciences.

Tenure Of Fellowship:

The Fellowship is tenable for the minimum period required to complete the graduate study leading to a PhD but not more than 4 years. There shall be a number of fellowships made available to be awarded per academic year.

Value Of Fellowship:

The total annual value of each fellowship is RM 60,000 (approx USD 16,300). This covers the tuition fees for the graduate study at MSU and monthly stipends. For the successful candidate, the amount also includes provision for one return airfare from the Fellow's place of domicile and university accommodation or equivalent provided throughout the tenureship.

Conditions Of Offer:

Successful candidates must be non-Malaysian citizens who have obtained a minimum qualification of Masters with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 or equivalent from any university worldwide recognized by the MSU Senate. Shortlisting is based on outstanding academic records and 2 letters of recommendation from referees. A good command of English by applicant must be properly indicated. Applicants will be given an opportunity to be employed at MSU upon completion of fellowship. The Fellowship will be awarded strictly on merit, without regard to race, gender, religion or country of origin.
