Diploma Occupational Safety and Health

Introduction

This program aims at imparting knowledge, attitude and skills in safety and health in occupational side. Through this program, students will be inculcated with independent learning to discover knowledge and new experience at their own pace. Students also will be provided with the knowledge and skill in both theory and practical aspects in occupational safety and health (OSH). Upon completion this program, the graduates will be able to identify the various roles and responsibilities in measuring the safety and health of various working place also communicate in oral and written form of the information and ideas about the law in a variety of contexts; identify the overall implications of occupational safety and health (OSH) science technology as it applies to protect workers in the twenty-first century and explain how the OSH process works.

Core Subject Description

Fundamental Science
Students will be exposed to the general biology & human genetic, organic chemistry, microbiology, anatomy & physiology in health & safety management, biochemistry and toxicology.

Safety & Health Risk
Knowledge in safety and health in occupational side will be exposed to the student includes risk management, transportation safety, construction safety, machine safety, chemical health risk assessment, ergonomic, emergency preparedness & response, search & rescue and risk communication.

Law & Justice
Students will be exposed to the knowledge of fundamental forms of social organization, the nature of justice process, conduct research works especially in the occupational area, OSH management system and how OSH process works.

Entrance Requirement

    1. Certificate In Health Science PTPL with pass in all subjects
         OR
    2. Pass In Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or its equivalent with 3 honours (credit) in any subjects
         OR
    3. Certificate from Polytechnic, public Institute of Higher Learning (IPTA) and other qualification recognized by MSU senate.
