Bachelor in Instructional Multimedia (Hons)
Introduction:
The Bachelor In Instructional Multimedia (Hons) course explores ways of going beyond the purely verbal. An alternative to purely verbal presentations is to use multimedia presentations in which people learn from both words and pictures - a situation that is called multimedia learning.
The BIMM will prepare and equip the students with the various instructional multimedia skills, sound knowledge and highly thinking person necessary to construct creative and innovative new ideas besides developing highly-motivated, disciplined and good ethics students in instructional multimedia fields.
Instructional multimedia contents have become the latest and needed addition to learners' learning tools. This course aimed at realizing the promise of improving the learning performance of a learner as an organization or an individual.

Core Subject Description
Graphic Visualization
This course focuses on the research of different types of graphic visualization and illustrations and also their techniques in developing drawing skills, design a certain graphic product in preparation of making storyboard or sketching and designing a poster. Besides that, it introduces students the forms and fundamentals of graphic design and its elements in all visual communication. In this module, the drawing terms and the manual processes of rendering the visual in color will be introduced, besides the techniques and technical skills of marker rendering, pastel and pencil.
Multimedia for Learning
This course focuses on the multimedia learning and teaching environments. This course also introduces uses of computers in educational settings by combining learning theory and instructional strategies to help the students design software for learning and instruction. The topics include new approaches to multimedia instructions as well as established methods such as simulation, games, tool and learning environments and web based.
Educational Psychology
This course concerned with teaching and learning process. It applies the method and theories of psychology but has its own theories, research methods, problems and techniques. This course emphasize on the understanding and improving education and the understanding what teachers and students think, do and feel sense. It also emphasize on classroom educations, theories and principles to the psychology testing.
Designing Computer-Based Instruction
This course is strong on practice, theoretical principles and full of automated tools that make the instructional design process in instructional project management. This course demonstrates that the same instructional design process can be used for all media and in order to produce a good instructional project management. By providing a means to apply innovative instructional design principles and computer technology, the course is expected to be accomplished both effectively and efficiently.
Multimedia Authoring System
The course will introduce various concepts and techniques beside the process of authoring to build, edit and integrate components of media like animation, audio, video, image and text to produce a multimedia product. The specify courseware including authoring scripting with the implementations of skills learned in developing storyboard, flow chart and the management of product development will be exposed.
Digital Audio and Video
This course will feature a software and hardware centric approach in the production of digital audio and video using video editing tools and digital video camcorder. The syllabus content includes digital and analog video definition, digital audio and video issues, compression, video digitizing, audio recording, devices, development process, shooting, editing and outputting to various delivery media.
3D Animation
This subject is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in theory and practice of 3D animation. It covers aspects of 3D animation from modeling to final rendering. A 3D animation sequence by the end of the course and demonstrate the ability to apply the aesthetic principles and technical creativity in their work.
Digital Media Content Development
This subject is designed to give students a fundamental working knowledge and understanding on basic concept of media content development as a whole. Then the introduction to various productions and editing techniques of different media and how to assemble them is applied. Scriptwriting and creating a digital media content will be thought in this subject.
Mobile Learning
This course covers clear commentary on the basic issues surrounding mobile learning. The topics exposed the concepts and components that develop the application of mobile learning. To differentiate mobile and traditional learning, there are topics regarding how to integrate the dynamic environment which involved the application of appropriate media and technologies. Telecommunications technologies provide opportunities for mobile learning technology to be delivered in order to meet users from all over the world.
Writing for Multimedia
This subject is designed to give students a fundamental working knowledge and understanding of writing multimedia content. An introduction on how to write different media for games will apply.
Entry Requirements:
- Minimum requirement (STPM candidates):
- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
Candidates will have to pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination or equivalent with credits in Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Melayu (Syllabus X) / Bahasa Malaysia II
AND
- Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent
Candidates will have to pass Sijil Tinggi Peperiksaan Malaysia (STPM) examination with at least:
- Pass with C grade in 3 subjects including General Studies paper OR
- Pass with C grade in 2 subjects including General Studies, and another 2 subjects with D grade OR
- Malaysian Ministry of Education's Matriculation Certificate or MSU foundation or equivalent qualification from other institutions approved by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education and accredited by Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA);
OR
- Minimum passes 3 subjects of A 'Level' (GCE)
OR
- Minimum 65-70% score for The South Australian Matriculation (SAM)
OR
- Minimum 80% score for Canadian Pre-University Program (CPU)
OR
- Diploma in related fields from PTPL/ MSU or Diploma/Certificate in related fields from Polytechnics, IPTA or accredited IPTS or other institutions recognized by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.
