Diploma in Information TechnologyIntroduction:The Diploma in Information Technology is specially designed to offer practical skills and is very much an industry-driven course. It is a course which enables one to learn various aspects of Information Technology (IT) and provides a broad spectrum of industry and academic knowledge. Objective:Equipping the students with a strong basics of computer science and information system technology, skills in effective problem solving. Career Prospect This course prepares the students for their future careers in IT; Students can venture into a career in programming, system design and technical and managerial aspects of computing; The IT industry is gaining immense interests and offers positions such as Programmers, Information System Executives, Support Pre-Sales Engineer, Technical Support Staff, Assistant Administrators and System Executives. Course Content:This course consists of the core and compulsory subjects. The overall total credits for the core subjects are 75 units, whereas it is 15 units for the compulsory subjects - bringing a total of 90 units in order for the students to graduate with a Diploma in Information Technology. In the first year of study, students are exposed to programming and basic information technology subjects. The compulsory subjects will be taught during the short semesters. Once the students have acquired ample knowledge of programming, studies will be more specialized, with subjects like Database System and System Analysis and Design in the second year.
