Introduction

The Bachelor in Retail Management is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and applied aspects of retail management. Key perspectives that shape the retail marketplace including environmental influences, retail relationships, retail analysis and decision-making strategies will be emphasized. Throughout the term, important concepts including consumer satisfaction, supply chain relationships, quality and value, ethics, social responsibility and the use of technology will receive special attention. The program introduces the student with the environment of the retail world.

Core Subject Description

Introduction to Retail Industry
Student will be exposed to the retailing activities. The theoretical aspect will enhance the basic knowledge of the retailing concepts while the practical aspects will enhance students’ hands-on skills and maneuvering retailing business.


Logistics Management
Students will be taught logistics management and important issues in logistics management.


Retail Environment
Student will be exposed to the retailing activities. The theoretical aspect will enhance the basic knowledge of the retailing concepts while the practical aspects will enhance students’ hands-on skills and maneuvering retailing business.


International Retailing
Student will be exposed to the retail internationalization activities through active academic and trade research and commercial developments.


Business Ethics
In this course, student will expose with moral and ethic theories – Utilitarianism, Aristotelianism and Kantiansm – hold that here is something that is intrinsically good, that right action, and vice-verse. Students will analyze case studies that highlight contemporary ethical in business and technology setting, nationally, and globally.


E-Commerce and Government
This course will cover topics such as the introduction and future of ecommerce, e-commerce application concept, electronic payment, security issues and mobile commerce.


Human Resource Management
This course emphasises on the ‘interface’ between the human resource managers and other managers in implementing the various human resource management activities such as manpower planning, recruitment, selection, training and development, compensation, and employer relations. It focuses on the methods and techniques of improving organisational effectiveness through sound human resource management practices. The course compares and contrasts the human resource management practices in the private and public sectors while also comparing the philosophy of the management from both the western and nonwestern perspectives.


Consumer Behavior
This subject will give different ideas based on the theories and basic concept of consumer behavior. It provides the background and tools for a strong and comprehensive understanding of the consumer behavior principles. The consumer is first look upon as an individual consumer and the topic slowly progresses on the social and cultural dimensions of consumer behavior and finally exploring the various aspect of consumer decision making.


Retail Merchandising Management
This module provides an introduction to the breadth and complexity of managing a large-scale retail business. It is to provide the framework from which retailing theory and practice can be further developed in the subsequent levels of programme.


Supply Chain Management
Student will be exposed to the retailing activities. The theoretical aspect will enhance the basic knowledge of the supply chain concepts while the practical aspects will enhance students’ hands-on skills and maneuvering retailing business.


Service Marketing
This course is based on service marketing. It involves rational strategic planning which takes into consideration and analyses firm situation and environment in managing services. The students will be exposed to current service marketing issues.


Retail Management Seminar
Effective retail management requires a broad range of knowledge and skills, along with the ability to recognize appropriate requirements in complex and unpredictable circumstances. The modules apply both theories and practices in conducting the modules.


Research Methodology
This course aims at providing the basic scientific knowledge to conduct the research in all the fields of Management by giving the exposure on various research tools and their applications. It also focuses on the skill of writing various kind of research report.
