Former classmates Muhammad Rifdi Muhammad Amri and Muhammad Shafiq Mohd Jamal turned their shared academic journey into an entrepreneurial success story. After graduating with a Bachelor in Marketing with Psychology (Hons) from Management and Science University (MSU) in 2018, the duo co-founded JomKita, a digital marketing agency that now empowers businesses across Malaysia specialising in the Food & Beverage (F&B) sector.

“We started JomKita in 2018 with zero capital and just one social media page,” recalls Rifdi. “Today, we manage five brands, employ nearly nine full-time staff, and coordinate freelance teams throughout the country.”

Focused primarily on the F&B industry, JomKita provides a wide range of digital services, including content creation, food reviews, branding strategies, and promotion of eateries and local attractions. “Our core strength lies in helping F&B businesses gain visibility and traction online,” says Shafiq. “We craft engaging content and run targeted campaigns to help clients reach the right audience.”

According to Rifdi, JomKita has grown into a multi-division business. “Our media arm focuses on social media management and full brand reviews,” he explains. “Another division offers digital marketing and advertising services to help clients build their online presence and drive customer engagement.”

Shafiq adds, “What we do is more than just marketing, it’s about storytelling. We create meaningful content that reflects each brand’s identity and values, so they can connect better with their customers.”

Over the years, JomKita has helped numerous businesses flourish, including several founded by fellow MSU alumni. Their expertise in social media strategy and digital branding has proven especially valuable to F&B entrepreneurs who often lack exposure to modern marketing tools.

“Many F&B operators are excellent at what they do, but unaware of how crucial digital marketing is today,” says Rifdi. “That’s where we come in to bridge the gap between business owners and their customers through compelling online storytelling.”

The duo sees themselves as a vital link in the communication chain. “We’re the medium that delivers the right message to the right market,” Shafiq emphasises. “We connect business owners to audiences they might never have reached otherwise.”

Their entrepreneurial spirit was sparked during their time at MSU, which they credit as the foundation of their growth. “MSU wasn’t just about academics, it offered exposure to successful alumni, inspiring stories, and real opportunities,” says Rifdi. “It showed us what’s possible.”

Rifdi highlights that the university’s greatest gift was its strong community. “The connections we built at MSU such as friends, mentors, and collaborators, were instrumental in shaping our journey,” he reflects. “The environment cultivated ambition and offered support at every level.”

For Shafiq, coming from a family of entrepreneurs also motivated him to push beyond his comfort zone. “MSU gave us the applicable skills and confidence to grow,” he says. “It equipped us with the tools to take the next step.”

Today, JomKita’s mission goes beyond just business, aligning with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their work contributes to Goal 1 by helping reduce poverty through job creation and economic opportunities. They support Goal 8 by promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, offering full and productive employment through both their in-house team and freelance networks. Additionally, their collaborative approach with clients, local communities, and industry partners reflects Goal 17, which emphasises the importance of strengthening partnerships to achieve sustainable development.

With their roots in MSU and their vision aimed at nationwide impact, Muhammad Rifdi and Muhammad Shafiq are not only building brands, they’re building a legacy of empowerment, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation across Malaysia.
