In case you missed it, the national Bulan Keusahawanan Siswa 2017 organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), was launched at Management and Science University (MSU)! The theme for this year’s Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Month is “Ignite your entrepreneurship passion”. Still only thinking about becoming a student entrepreneur? Let us help you make a decision! Here are our five reasons!

Plenty of time to try again

Entrepreneurship can be very challenging, but university students are young and have strong wills, as well as sharp minds. They can move quickly and have the advantage of time which is why it is okay to experiment and fail. You will get back up in no time, to try yet again!

It’s not only about reaching your goals fast but all about gathering the experiences and knowhow. If you mess something up during your experimenting period in your university years, there’s still time and room to bounce back!

A multitude of resources

MSU has the IT labs you can use for your businesses. MSU library has got you covered on books regarding entrepreneurship. The whole campus can support you if you need help to test your product and marketing skills. You can also seek advice with our top class academic staff who would be happy to help.

In the MSU entrepreneur ecosystem is the Leadership and Entrepreneurship Advancement Institute (LEAD), who developed the Jumpstart Program with an RM5million allocation to help budding MSUpreneurs.

We also have the International Centre for Halal Studies (ICHLAS)and MODAWORLD to guide you with professional help. ICHLAS undertakes the promotion and development of matters relating to research, training and education dedicated to halal products and services especially in Halal Cosmeceutical and Pharmaceutical. MODAWORLD is dedicated to helping MSU’s emerging fashion designers with their designs and help with merchandising.

So take advantage of all the resources while you are still an MSUrian!

Sharpening soft-skills

Entrepreneurship is all about soft-skills. Time-management skills, communicating skills, stress-handling skills, managing-risk skills, you name it. By being a student entrepreneur, you get to practice all these vital skills and gradually strengthen them.

Your experiences in business will later help you in your career and life after university because your skills and talent will be developed to command commercial value.

Financial stability

As long as you keep going, maintain the business, and keep striving, you will be fine. With the right method, your market will grow, your business will grow, and so will your profit margin. Bye-bye to financial problems!

You can cross out your student loan early, help out your family, and maybe even have some saving for the future. How great does that sound?!

Staying one step ahead

Entrepreneurship will keep you one step ahead of everyone. You will learn how to make decisions better and be more independent than everyone else. By being a student entrepreneur you can add solid work experience to your resume.

If after university you decide to continue on with your business, you will be helping the country’s economy. After all, as mentioned by our President Professor Tan Sri Dato' Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Abdul Yajid at the launch of the Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Month, you will be a job creator instead of a job seeker.

ICYMI, MSU won the Best Entrepreneurial Private University 2016 title from the Ministry of Higher Education in early this year. Read all about it here
