Every member of alumni has the potential to give back. One in particular thinks that having gone through similar challenges during their university days, alumni members can be effective, credible, accessible examples of their own success stories.

“Alumni can contribute career-related knowledge and help develop new university programmes. They can serve as specific reference points to faculty and bridge student needs; in career placement, for example,” said MSU College Shah Alam alumnus Mohd Shahrizal Fairuz Mohd Raus.

Mohd Shahrizal was speaking at MSU College Shah Alam's Global Leadership Programme (GLP) Nusantara Edutrip to Bandung and Jakarta. Jointly organized by members of MSU College Shah Alam Alumni Association, Student Representatives Council (SRC), and Student and Career Development (SCD) Unit, it provided a memorable bonding experience to its twenty participants.

With the GLP trip including a visit to the Nurul Faalah Orphanage in Bandung, the group’s community engagement took on activities such as workshop, performances, sports and game, and cleaning the hostel area. A donation accompanied small gifts for the orphans.

The group also visited Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University Bandung (UIN Bandung) and Indonesia's largest industrial centre. In Jakarta they visited the National Museum of Indonesia, the Monument of Monas, and the infamous Kawah Putih or White Crater.

Among those who benefited from the experience is Certificate of Business Management student Nur Qamarina Abdul Manap.

“Alumni involvement, support, and contribution to their alma mater enrich current students’ experience in university, with immense benefits to the future graduates.”

MSU Bachelor in International Business (Honours)

MSU Master in Business Administration (MBA)

MSU Doctor of Philosophy (Management/Business)
