In bringing about a holistic education, the presentation of multiple views is important. Having people of different backgrounds share a myriad experiences facilitates deep and wide fact finding.

Says researcher Saeid Mezail Mawazi, whose School of Pharmacy (SPH) team recently bagged Best Invention for Women 2022, “Discovering the truth always requires investigation through one’s specialty, and scientists are motivated to conduct research because they are interested in expanding knowledge across their field. The discipline of research may add to the body of knowledge methodically, but it is the social perspectives that add to meaningful input.”

A good education gathers up the unknowns and allows reconsideration of assumptions. As future graduates head for work and life in an ever-more diverse world, their experience in diversity is crucial to strengthening intellectual robustness.

Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) student Noreen Hatem Abdelghafar Shaban of Egypt thinks that exposure to a plethora of views from both classmates and faculty is important to gaining a multifaceted education. After all, exposure as a tool not only instills knowledge but also increases factual accuracy. Now in her third year, Noreen had only recently been able to pledge her Pharmacist’s Oath.

“It’s hard to believe that we have been on campus for two years and a half already. MSU is such a very welcoming place, I felt at home right from my very first day. We are surrounded by friends, mentors, and lecturers who see our potential and support us to ensure that we succeed in making real change for the world as future pharmacists. Life at MSU is a great experience that I plan to make the most of.”

First-year Nada Emad Mohamed Samir Gouda from Egypt, who is in her second semester on the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) programme together with her sister Amira Emad, had discovered Management and Science University (MSU) primarily through word of mouth.

“MSU was recommended to me by some friends and I chose the University for its ranking and accreditation. My campus experience so far has been nice; the people here are friendly and kind.”

Among MSU’s best students from the Class of 2022 at the 29th Convocation Ceremony of Management and Science University (MSU) is Bachelor in International Business (Hons) Ayse Gul Uzundemir of Turkey.

The recipient of the Mohd Shukri Yajid (MSY) Award had come to MSU bringing her experience as a working mother and foreign student.

“I look very strong yet I am actually very sensitive and have had a lot of heartbreaks. Completing my studies with two kids while working is my biggest achievement other than receiving the MSY Award.”

Gathering and bringing in people from different places worldwide is important to fostering a thriving global community. Seen and heard performing with MSU’s De’ Voice Club at Convo-29 were Zach and Ellie of Kansas, USA.

Respectively studying for a Master in Educational Management and Leadership and a Master in Business Administration at MSU’s Graduate School of Management (GSM), the husband-and-wife duo had studied the national language Bahasa Malaysia a year before arriving on campus in Shah Alam Section 13 last March.

“We enjoy singing in foreign languages,” says Ellie, “but it is tough! I’m a little nervous about it, but [the singing] helps me learn the language better.”

“Pronouncing the words can be difficult,” laughs Zach, and yet the two are already sounding quite Malaysian; for instance in their use of the local dialect for ‘we’ (kitorang) and ‘them’ (diorang).
