Management and Science University (MSU) launched its inaugural MSU Inspire Research Colloquium (MIRC) this August. The event themed Transformative Research Enriching Futures was jointly organized by the MSU Research Management Centre (RMC); the MSU centres of excellence comprising CCSBD, LEAD, ICHLAS, ITIC, and CRC; the Library Resource Centre (LRC); and MSU Foundation (Yayasan MSU).

 

A vision for research to enhance teaching and learning, with a mission of delivering the best in creating a better future for all, was presented in the keynote address by MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid.

 

 

Research at MSU, pursued to commercialization as well as global recognition, aims to be applied, collaborative, inter-disciplinary, cross-border, and engaging community as well as industry.

Close to 50 research groups are currently working across 25 key research areas of the University. Leading the way locally, regionally, or internationally are platforms such as the Asia Digital Art and Design (ADADA); the Asia Pacific Pharmacy Education Network (APPEN); the Congress of Optometry and Vision Research (COVR); the Finance, Investment, and Accounting Colloquium Series (FIACoS); the Idea Regeneration Expo (iReX); the International Medical, Pharmaceutical, Cosmeceutical, and Health Science Symposium (iMPACHS); the International Conference on Forensic Science, Forensic Medicine, and Criminology (INFOMEC); and the MSU International Conference on Inter-Professional Education (MICIPE), to name a few.

 

Four journals were concurrently launched at MIRC 2020 – the Journal of Management and Science; the Journal of Leadership and Entrepreneurship; the Journal of Optometry, Eye and Health Research; and the Journal of Halal Studies. A new Centre of Excellence (CoE) was announced. CRC, or the Centre for Clinical Research, joins four other CoEs – the Leadership and Entrepreneurship Advancement Institute (LEAD), the International Centre for Halal Studies (ICHLAS), the Information Technology and Innovation Centre (ITIC), and the Centre for Cyber Security and Big Data (CCSBD).

 

Award-winning prototypes were put on display, with five from the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) and two each from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS) and the International Medical School (IMS).

 

 

The FISE offerings included a Body Heat Temperature Scan by Dr Husniza Razalli, a Contactless Hand Sanitizer by Dr M AbdulRazzaq, MySolar water irrigation system by Dr Norazliani Md Sapari, Future Vision for Blindness Prevention by Dr Safaa Najah Saud, and a Multi-Reality Teaching Aid by Safinaz Mustapha.

 

 

FHLS presented Aquariz by Dr Nurzafirah Mazlan and Recycled Eyesight Assessment Ruler for Blindness Prevention by Dr Muhammad Zaki Awg Isa.

 

 

MyCoral Seeding Frame by Mohd Hairulnizam Ibrahim and a Fundamental Research Grant Scheme project by Dr Shirley Tang Gee Hoon comprised the IMS exhibits.
