MSU MyDay 2024: A simple yet significant tradition to recognise and honour every thread that weaves together our mutual identity.
The recent MyDay ceremony kicked off with a brisk walk, with MSUrians completing 6,700 steps—a tribute to the nation's 67 years of independence. The Jiwa Merdeka Walk featured the participation of all lecturers, staff members, and Management and Science University (MSU) students decked in the Jalur Gemilang’s four momentous colours, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to the country while keeping their steps count in check.
Celebrating the theme of MSU Jiwa Merdeka, the MyDay ceremony hosted by the Students and Career Development (SCD) gathered over 1,800 participants from 66 departments, comprising all faculties, schools, other supporting departments, Yayasan MSU, MSU College Shah Alam, and MSU Medical Centre. In addition to the internal participation, this year’s ceremony was also specially curated with the inclusion of MSU alumni from several civil service entities and subsidiaries to signify an everlasting connection with the community at large and advocate national interests.
MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid unfurled the Jalur Gemilang presented by the flag bearer, Joanne Ng Zi Chen, the President of Student Representative Council 2024/2025, who was accompanied by a platoon commander and staff, both the alumni of MSU.
The rich tapestry of culture and experiences was represented by the student body through nationalistic performances. The sound of cheering and the sight of waving flags following every rendition further fostered a greater sense of pride and patriotism among the crowd gathered at the U-Square.
Leading the oath of Rukun Negara was Captain Muhammad Hazim Hanis Anuar, Ketua Platun Kompeni Bantuan (PARA), also an alumnus with a Bachelor of Education—Teaching English as Second Language of Class 2016.
Joining him were other alumni: Sefika Abdullah (MSU Medical Centre), Dr. Imran Khan Jalaldeen (MSU Medical Centre), Tuan Sateshvaran Rajendram (Assistant Superintendent Immigration Malaysia), Inspector Mohd Hafiz Mastor (Batu Caves), Lt. Kol. (PA) Amirsarifudin Zalman (Malaysia Civil Defence Department), as well as MSU staff members and students.
