Management and Science University (MSU) held the eighth edition of its Idea Regeneration Expo (iReX) by the MSU Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) in December 2019.

 

iReX 8.0 exhibited 250 final-year student projects across Media Science and Graphics, Information Science and Computing, and Engineering and Technology. Also participating were students from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), MSU College Shah Alam, and MSU Learning Centre in Kuala Lumpur's KL Sentral.

 

 

Upwards of twenty-five organizations across governmental, non-governmental, public and private companies were represented.

 

 

Present were MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato' Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid and Selangor Executive Councillor for Welfare, Women's Affairs, Science, Technology and Innovation YB Puan Rodziah Ismail.

 

Partner organizations attending were Suncrox Solar, Unified Public Consultation, ICT Nexus, Tourism Nexus, 3D Gens, Sapura Aero, Hakuhodo Malaysia, Bosch Rexroth, Layang-layang Flying Academy, Wooot Carpenter, Intellize Tech Services, SysArmy, and Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS).

 

 

New collaborations were formed with Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), Green Growth Asia Foundation, Malaysian Society for Engineering and Technology (MySET), and Jaeger-Tech Sdn Bhd.

 

 

Present for the MoU exchange were MPC Director General Dato’ Abdul Latif Hj Abu Szeman, Green Growth Asia Foundation Executive Director Dato’ Dr Dionysius S. K. Sharma, Malaysian Society for Engineering and Technology (MySET) Vice-President Associate Professor Ir Tan Sri Dr Abd Rahim Abu Talib, and Jaeger-Tech Co-Founder Mr Anders Lindstrom.

 

 

Activities besides the main iReX exhibition, which included 11 industry booths, were industry talks, alumni talks, and University Industry Advisory Panel (UIAP) meetings.

 

Cash prizes were presented to six winners of the iReX Gold Award. Another six received the iReX Silver Award, another ten the iReX Merit Award, and three the iReX Visitor’s Choice Award.

 

 

MPC contributed two sets of cash prizes worth RM600, RM800, and RM1000, for the Comic Design and Illustration categories.

 

 

Also announced were the results of the inaugural MSU-FMM Young Entrepreneur Innovation Programme, with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) awarding trophies and cash prizes of RM1000, RM2000, and RM4000 to the top three innovations.

 

In first place is ‘Smart Cashier’ by Bachelor in Information Technology (Honours) Mobile Wireless and Technology students Mohamad Naqib Hishamuddin and Alvin Lee Ti Lin and Bachelor in Computer Science (Honours) students Michael Singaram Murugan and Thanesh Ravindran.

 

‘River Cleaning Robot’ by Master in Computer Science (by Research) students Safira Faizah Desyansah, Brainvendra Widi Dionova, and Azmil Umur Abbas clinched the second place.

 

Coming in third is ‘Anaerobic Digester Production of Biogas with GSM and IOT Monitoring System by Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical and Electronic) (Honours) student Mohammed Jaufer Mohammed Zakir.
