Management and Science University (MSU) International Medical School (IMS) hosted the 19th International Medical, Pharmaceutical, Cosmeceutical and Health Science Symposium (iMPaCHS) of the MSU Medical and Health Sciences Cluster.

 

Carrying the theme of Empowering Research for a Sustainable Future, the 19th iMPacHS was officiated by MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid.

 

 

Fu Her Xiancen from the Bachelor in Forensic Science (Hons) programme at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS) was announced this year’s recipient of the Junainah Abdul Hamid Award for her Dental Age Estimation of Malaysian Chinese Young Adults using Modified Demirjian’s Method.

 

 

Receiving the Best International Presenter (e-Poster) award were Jeanne Nicci Cueva Orcena and Frances Korine D. Ganza from Tagum Doctors College Inc, Philippines, respectively for ‘Experiences and Challenges of Patients on the Acquisition of Medical Laboratory Tests and Hospital Services in Selected Hospitals in Tagum City during the COVID-19 Pandemic: a Qualitative Study’, and ‘Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice on the Use of NSAIDS for the Management of Pain in Patients with Antihypertensive Maintenance Medication’; as well as Nanda Franata Putra of Jakarta Global University (JGU) for ‘Evaluation of Chemotherapy Induced Adverse Drug Reactions (Adrs) in Cancer Patients of Inpatient Unit at Dharmais National Cancer Centre Hospital, Indonesia’.

 

The Best Oral Presenter award went to Thong Poh Yen from the Master in Science (by Research) Biomedicine programme at the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) for ‘GCMS Profiling, Formulation Characterization and Molecular Docking of Citrus Sinensis Peels Extract Loaded Lotion for Photoprotection’; Low Jo Ee, Nurazytina Mohd Baki, and Qistina Dayana from the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) programme at FHLS, respectively for ‘Determination of Insecticide Resistance Status of Mosquito Population in Klang, Gombak and Sepang using Bioassay Test’, ‘The Immunohistochemical Analysis of Protein Inflammatory Biomarkers in the Development of Premature Atherosclerosis in Rat Models’, and ‘The Potential Effects of Clitoria Tematea on the 6-Hydroxydopamine-Induced Rat Model of Parkinson Disease Hani; Filzahridani Arif from the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme at IMS for ‘Knowledge, Awareness, and Attitude towards Monkeypox: an Online Cross-Sectional Survey among Selangor Residents, Malaysia’; and Lavanya Bas Kara Rao from the Bachelor in Medical Sciences (Hons) programme at IMS for ‘Ameliorating Effects of Olea Europaea on Morphine Dependent Rat Model’.

 

Two each from the Master in Science (by Research) Biomedicine programme at SGS, the Bachelor in Medical Sciences (Hons) programme at IMS, as well as the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) programme and the Bachelor in Forensic Science (Hons) programme at FHLS, and one each from the Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) programme and the Bachelor in Health Science Management (Hons) programme at FHLS received the Best Poster Presenter award.

iMPacHS 19.0 counted a total of 222 participations including 58 international ones. Also participating were Burapha University and Eastern University of Thailand; Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery and Hospital of Telangana, India; and Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) as well as Nusaputra College of Pharmacy, Indonesia.
