Science has shown that in the case of an outbreak, reducing population density in an area can lower the infection risk for everyone, and that the public health concept of social distancing should be able to stem person-to-person spread of disease. As Covid-19 turned pandemic, Management and Science University (MSU) went fully online in support of the governmental directive for Malaysia to adhere to the Movement Control Order (MCO).

With health and wellbeing of the entire MSU community being utmost priority to the University, appropriate safeguarding measures were taken to continue providing uninterrupted service to MSUrians past, present and future.

Prior to the MCO taking effect, the University had issued three health advisories from MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid.

Social distancing has been oft-reiterated as the phrase quickly became a byword on Social Media.

Digital technology has been fully engaged to ensure the University remains virtually open, operational, and capable of providing continuous services to meet various needs.

While tertiary e-learning has been suspended nationwide, MSU’s MODeL and eKLAS continue ensuring that remote classes can still be provided to various committed communities of learners at MSU who so wish; from the full-time students to the part-time ones and lifelong learners on blended learning.

These measures will only be successful if we as a community comply with them.

Ultimately, personal decisions influence the likelihood of being exposed to the Covid-19 virus and unknowingly passing it on.

While the afflicted may experience only a mild illness or not show early symptoms, those older and/or have a weakened immune system, or already saddled with a chronic disease, could become a lot more ill.

MSU thanks all members of the community for their due cooperation in keeping personal distances, hand sanitizing, and covering mouth and nose before coughing or sneezing.

Management and Science University (MSU) is the 2018 recipient of the Malaysia Digital Business Award for Excellence in Education Digitization.
