Management and Science University (MSU) recorded 92 percent on the indicator for graduation on time (iGoT) at its 27th Convocation Ceremony, celebrating 1,959 new graduates from 90 programmes of study. Twenty-two received their PhD, 68 their Master’s, 955 their Bachelor’s, and 914 their Diploma qualifications.

 

The ceremony that had been delayed since October 2020 was conducted in seven sessions over four days, on campus at the University’s Chancellor Hall in Shah Alam, with full adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures of the National Security Council (MKN) and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).

 

The much-awaited graduation event after a year-long Movement Control Order by the Government of Malaysia became among the first in the country.

 

In attendance were MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid and MSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Puan Sri Datuk Dr Junainah Abdul Hamid.

 

Thanking the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia for making the 27th Convocation Ceremony possible for Management and Science University (MSU), Professor Tan Sri Dr Shukri urged the Class of 2021 to come to terms with the pandemic and to learn to live with it.

 

 

“COVID-19 is a wake-up call reminding us that nothing can be dictated to our terms. Be prepared for change, be part of the solution and not of the problem; with learnability, agility, and courage, in your transforming of lives and enriching of the future.”

 

The 27th Convocation Ceremony of Management and Science University (MSU) presented the largest number of graduates from the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP) with 693, and the most number of programmes from the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) at 21.

 

Three programmes presented their first batch of graduates; the Diploma in Physiotherapy, the Bachelor in Islamic Finance (Hons), and the Bachelor in Marketing with Psychology (Hons).

 

Fifty-four best students received MSU Foundation scholarships worth a total of four hundred and seventy-three thousand Ringgit along with trophies.  

 

 

The Chancellor Gold Medal Award, which comes with RM18,000 in scholarship and RM3,000 in cash prize, went to Bachelor in International Business (Hons) Sharul Ikmal Mohd Sukkeri from FBMP.

 

The President Award, worth RM15,000 in scholarship and RM2,000 in cash, went to Danish Haikal Asman from the Bachelor in Creative Multimedia (Hons) programme at FISE and Mekhavathanie Maratha Pillai from the Diploma in Accounting programme at FBMP.

 

The Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstanding Award, also with RM15,000 in scholarship plus RM1,000 in cash, was bagged by Proveen Krishnan Ravi Krishanan from the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Hons) programme at MSU’s International Medical School (IMS).

 

Thirty-two recipients of the Academic Award each received RM10,000 in scholarship plus RM1,000 in cash, and eighteen of the Industry Award received RM5,000 in scholarship plus a gift from sponsoring industry partners of Management and Science University (MSU).
