Management and Science University (MSU) was honoured to welcome and host YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the tenth Prime Minister of Malaysia, for the inaugural edition of Temu Anwar IPTS on May 5.

Temu Anwar is a youth (open) dialogue programme geared towards engaging and empowering the minds of the nation’s next generation, championing keen participation and mutual learning in national discourse in congruence with the Malaysia MADANI values.

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) spearheaded the programme at MSU Chancellor Hall in collaboration with Majlis Hal Ehwal Pelajar IPTS, Yayasan Perkasa Siswa (YPS), Anwar Ibrahim Club, and MSU. Over 4,000 students assembled to witness the historic engagement with private higher education institutions across the nation.

The forum served as a dynamic platform to exchange ideas to empower a progressive society. An array of themes ranging from economics, geopolitics, policy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), domestic resilience, humanitarian assistance, Malaysian-made goods, voices of student representatives from private higher institutions, and financial assistance for students were critically discussed.

The Prime Minister accentuated the significance of young minds in advancing new sciences and disciplines, imploring them to assimilate knowledge and disseminate just and truthful information for the betterment of society and the nation.

Drawing attention to the indispensable importance of digitalisation (AI), the Minister of Finance advocated the mastery of knowledge built upon the history, values, arts, and culture of Malaysian society.

He further emphasised that education and research are not the exclusive domain of public universities; both private and public institutions have unique strengths and the ability to collaborate toward a common goal.

Before he parted, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim complimented the students’ critical thinking capacity and their sensitivity to current world affairs.

Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, the President and Founder of MSU, welcomed and expressed his gratitude for choosing MSU as the first private higher institution for the imperative dialogue session.

“Your presence today reflects the government’s outlook on recognising universities as pivotal hubs for talent talent building and innovation. It sends a strong message that the students and campus community are imperative in the transformative journey towards a progressive, harmonious, and prosperous Malaysia”, conveyed Professor Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid.

The afternoon filled with candid and cordial conversation was attended by tertiary education students from over 30 institutions, including international and adult learners.
