Management and Science University (MSU) celebrated Malaysia’s 62nd Independence Day with all members of staff across the University, ten colleges nationwide, and MSU Learning Centre KL Sentral, as well as MSU Medical Centre and MSU Kids. MSU President, Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, officiated the celebrations.

“MSU is a reflection of Malaysia. Our core component is very much about inclusivity within diversity. We are always about tolerance and understanding. We appreciate, build, and develop within the foundations of intercultural learning. We are receptive of all from around the world becoming part of us. In our journey of becoming great and greater, as a university as well as a nation, our diversity is what makes us strong. We need everyone, regardless of colour and creed. Many of our expatriate members of staff have contributed to the success of our University. Let us keep standing tall in togetherness.

“When we know the role of education and university, it is important that we look internally. We must nurture our responsibility as citizen and staff.  We have developed the foundation for the future; now we must keep strengthening it. Education is one of the pillars to nation building. Education ensures that we can inculcate, nurture, and develop togetherness and tolerance. Education is the platform to develop self and build character. Let us build our University into fulfilling these roles.

“For the past 38 years, we have been able to be responsible members of staff and citizens, regardless of our nationality. Everything that we do reflects our values; from our community work to our sustainable development goals. Our mission of Transforming Lives Enriching Future shapes our university into collaborativeness. We reject all forms of extremism, and seek to be a model of moderation.

“Wherever we have come from, let us also feel very lucky to be here as Malaysians. Let us love the country, and build it towards greatness. And let us take the University forward to our TE23. This past year, we developed so much, moved so many levels, and now we are one of the top ranking universities in the world. I thank all of you for making MSU one of the best in Malaysia and one of the greatest in the world.
