The theory of intelligence presents several types of intelligence including linguistic, spatial, and musical. Humans have inbuilt pedagogical intelligence; the only species capable of teaching from as young as two or three. We are also equipped with existential intelligence, which gives us the ability to raise questions and ponder on their probable answers. Ang Zi Xin sees a way to aid the important initial years of a human’s development through her Diploma in Early Childhood Education programme at Management and Science University (MSU).

Exposed to music as early as three years of age when she began taking up the piano, Zi Xin is also a master of four other musical instruments. She learned to play the Erhu or Chinese violin, the Liu Qin (Chinese mandolin), and the Zhong Ruan (moon guitar) by joining the Chinese orchestra during her secondary-school years at SMK Infant Jesus Convent in Melaka. She also joined the school band and picked up the alto saxophone.

At MSU, where she has made the School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS) Dean’s List thrice, the musically gifted twenty-year-old performed at the Mooncake Festival 2018 and 2019.

Currently undergoing internship at SK Seafield 3 in nearby Subang Jaya, Ang Zi Xin plans to advance to Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (Hons) after graduating with her diploma.

“My parents gave me a great start by opening doors to my cognitive abilities. I believe I can do the same in nurturing self-discipline and stimulating a child’s mind through my musical experiences and Early Childhood Education training. It’s a wonderful feeling to be at MSU. There is nothing holding me back in pursuing my curiosity and fulfilling my appetite for new knowledge, on my way to transforming lives and enriching the future of others.”
