MSU’s creative and innovative research ecosystem promotes applied, collaborative and multidisciplinary research that engages communities and industries. Research activities are supported by the research grants and seed funding provided by the university, its industry partners and government agencies. Twenty-five key research areas are undertaken across faculties, schools, and postgraduate centres. MSU’s local and global research, networking and collaborative works have enriched others in myriad ways.

These research efforts are centralised under the university’s Centres of Excellence (COE): Clinical Centre of Excellence (MyCeLL); Information Technology and Innovation (ITIC); Leadership & Entrepreneurship Advancement (LEAD); International Centre for Halal Studies (ICHLAS); Cyber Security & Big Data (CSBD); Complementary & Alternative Medicine (MyCAM); and My Eye Center (MEC). These centres provide the platforms for research undertakings and the advancement of research and entrepreneurial efforts at the university.
