Lights, Camera, Attraction. Ft Shanzah.

This story features Shanzah Parveen, a 20-year-old student who is currently undertaking a Diploma in Public Relations and Entertainment Management while pursuing a career in modelling. She chose to study PR to sharpen her communication skills with people.

“In the line of work I’m currently invested in, communication is really important, especially when it comes to communicating with clients. Public Relations has taught me exactly how to do that. Now, I’m able to market myself better as well.”

It was 2016 when Shanzah did her first ever photoshoot, and it was not in her plans at all. “I was accompanying a friend of mine to a photoshoot and during the day of the shoot, they didn’t have enough models. I was asked to fill in and from then, I found my love for modelling. The feeling of expressing yourself in front of a camera really got me interested in this business.” she says.

Shanzah tells us that before she started modelling, she didn’t really have the confidence to strive in the field of work.

“I was a very shy person before, you could say I was introverted. But I knew that I had to get rid of that trait of mine. And luckily for me, I had the best support anyone could ask for. I learned a lot from senior models as they helped me gain the confidence that I needed. I am very thankful for my family and friends as they’ve always had my back. They’re actually one of the reasons why I can be as confident as I am now.”

2019 was the year where Shanzah decided to make her hobby her profession. She states, “after a 2- year break to focus on my studies, I got an offer from ArianiLuxe to be their model on the 30th of April. From then, I’ve collaborated with PrimaValet, Cj WowShop, Locka. My, Shawl Publika, Tudungruffle, Byhisdaisy, Qiszar, Casetify and The Hijab.co”

But amongst all these big shoots, Shanzah shares with us one of her favourite memories from her modelling career. “One of my favourite shoots has to be the shoot I was a part of with PrimaValet. We travelled all the way to Port Dickson and I was joined with some of my friends. The shoot took a whole day to finish, but it was really worth it as we all had a great time.”

Shanzah also tells us that modelling has taught her a lot about the fashion industry. Her aspirations are to further branch out and one day model for international brands. We here at MSU wish her the very best!
