With her “Happy Wifi connection” hairstyle, Tracy Yeow brings a warm positive energy wherever she goes. She maintains a positive connection in every challenge but most importantly, she's a real believer in MSU’s 2G culture of giving and gratefulness.

24-year-old Tracy recently completed her Bachelor of Accountancy and will attend MSU to pursue a Master's degree.

Throughout her teen years and until now, she has achieved many outstanding achievements such as Alumni Volunteer of Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa owned by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Humanity Heroes Foundation and Tzu Chi Foundation, Dean's List Awards, and many more. She was recently named the Top 100 Asia Young Talent Award of MonStar Awards 2021.

Despite her accomplishments, she prefers to volunteer. Some regard it as a pastime, while others regard it as philanthropic work; for Tracy, it was a pastime that evolved into something very significant in her life.

Tracey started her volunteering initiatives back in 2014, helping out in various communities.

“The more I give, the happier I am. Therefore, volunteering has renewed my motivation and enthusiasm. There is an indescribable sense of satisfaction that cannot be bought with money,” she said.

Volunteering gathers people together to achieve 1 thing; to help make the world a better and peaceful place.

"I met a positive group of people who come from various countries, states, and backgrounds, but who are all like-minded teammates. We work together to make a difference in the community. In the past, I had a lot of unpleasant people around me. Their hostility revealed the person I don't want to be," she explained.

“I believe that leaving a legacy of love and care through volunteer work is what inspires MSUrians to stay. I really love this positive atmosphere. MSU also focuses on community and the sustainability of volunteer activities. Therefore, I chose MSU without hesitation and started my master’s journey,” she said.

MSU has a strong 2G culture, which has inspired many students and staff members to become holistic, well-rounded individuals. Was it fate or just a coincidence that led Tracy to MSU?

"The volunteer activities organised by "Yayasan MSU" drew me in, as did the fact that MSU's quality has been acknowledged by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE). 200 MSUrians volunteered at MSU Chancellor Hall and MSU Medical Centre PPVs as part of the MSU Cares initiative to give provisions to families who have been economically impacted by the pandemic," she said.

"In my opinion, we should take time out of our hectic schedules to volunteer and contribute to our community, regardless of our age. My greatest ambition in life is to help the community, to create an NGO, and to continue volunteering," she stated.

Tracy aspires to inspire people before she expires. To encourage them to volunteer sincerely. When you volunteer, you become socially conscious and learn to value and cherish what you have; you learn to unite with others.

Kindness and generosity are at the heart of everyone, no matter who they are or were, and it is this that allows us to see others in a more positive and charitable light. Therefore, putting yourself in others’ shoes helps to consider and understand the situation of others.

“I believe that volunteers are the little pencils in God’s hand used to write a love letter to the world to spread kindness and positivity,” - Tracy Yeow, 2021.
