MMC election presents Management and Science University (MSU) with opportunity of contribution towards safeguarding patients and guiding doctors

Management and Science University (MSU) is proud and honoured to have the Dean of its International Medical School (IMS), Professor Dato’ Dr Lailanor Ibrahim, elected into the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).

Election to the MMC, provisioned by the Medical Act 1971, allows medical practitioners from institutions other than the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education the opportunity of a vote in the MMC in guiding the direction of the Malaysian medical profession.

Vested with policy authority, the 33-member Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) established with the motto of safeguarding patients and guiding doctors is a corporate body represented by medical practitioners from across Malaysian public and private sectors.

Members elected to the MMC support members appointed by the Minister of Health. Each MMC membership serves a tenure of three years.

The Bangalore campus of the Management and Science University (MSU) International Medical School (IMS) in India holds the distinction of the first Malaysian offshore medical school to receive a 5-year accreditation from MMC. IMS offers programmes of study in medicine and surgery (MBBS) as well as medical sciences (BMS and DMS).
