Management and Science University (MSU) concluded its ASEAN Songket Festival with the International Songket Run 2018, organized by the MSU Student and Career Development (SCD) Department.

 

Flagged off by MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid at the university’s Shah Alam campus, the five-kilometre fun run in the city’s Section 13 displayed creativity among the two thousand five hundred participants raising awareness and appreciation of the heritage fabric with its distinctive pattern.



One couple even raised cheer when they ran in their songket wedding attire.



Other equally enthusiastic participants included a young pair of twins as well as mobility students from Thailand, Indonesia, and China.



Commemorative medals for completing the run added to all the fun and excitement.



Also seen at the finishing line was Affin Islamic Bank MSU-campus Branch Manager Mr Muhamad Fadhlan Zainuddin.



 

Arriving back at U-Square, the finishers furthered the Saturday-morning exercise with a dance routine to a popular number.

Prizes including a lucky-draw ticket for 3D 2N in Bandung were presented by Professor Tan Sri Dr Shukri. Among winners in the individual, group, and creative categories were representatives of Pharmaniaga and the National Craft Institute.

 

MSU’s School of Pharmacy (SPH) took home the Group-category hamper for the largest participation.





The MSU International Songket Run 2018 was sponsored by Malaysia Songket Fashion Award (MASFA), Noor Arfa Batik, Wardah Cosmetics, Yustie Dieanna, Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, Canon Malaysia, Milo Malaysia, Munchy’s, and Mios Kitchen; and supported by the Department of National Heritage, the National Department for Culture and Arts, the National Craft Institute, the Malaysian Prisons Department, and Kembara Events Solution.
