A great turn out at the curtain closer to the inaugural ASEAN Songket Festival launched by Management and Science University (MSU)
Management and Science University (MSU) concluded its ASEAN Songket Festival with the International Songket Run 2018, organized by the MSU Students and Career Development (SCD) Department.
Flagged off by MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid at the university’s Shah Alam campus, the five-kilometre fun run in the city’s Section 13 displayed creativity among the two thousand five hundred participants raising awareness and appreciation of the heritage fabric with its distinctive pattern.
One couple even raised cheer when they ran in their songket wedding attire.
Other equally enthusiastic participants included a young pair of twins as well as mobility students from Thailand, Indonesia, and China.
Commemorative medals for completing the run added to all the fun and excitement.
Also seen at the finishing line was Affin Islamic Bank MSU-campus Branch Manager Mr Muhamad Fadhlan Zainuddin.
Arriving back at U-Square, the finishers furthered the Saturday-morning exercise with a dance routine to a popular number.
Prizes including a lucky-draw ticket for 3D 2N in Bandung were presented by Professor Tan Sri Dr Shukri. Among winners in the individual, group, and creative categories were representatives of Pharmaniaga and the National Craft Institute.
