Natural hand sanitizer invention keeps winning accolades for Management and Science University (MSU)
Management and Science University (MSU) has garnered a third acclaim for its natural product Betelnizer.
The betel-based hand sanitizer topped a competition of a hundred and fifty to clinch the Gold Medal in the Medical and Pharmaceutical category at the International Innovation, Invention and Creation Exposition (IIICE) 2018.
Formulated by MSU International Medical School (IMS) researcher Dr Muhd Ridzuan Pauzi with the aid of MSU Master of Science (by Research) in Biomedicine student Dr Aisyah Badhrul Hisham, Betelnizer had won its first Gold Medal at the Research and Innovation Week in Terengganu and a Silver Medal at the Innovation and Technology Exposition 2018 (InTEX18) in Sarawak.
Betelnizer demonstrates potent antimicrobial and antifungal properties against pathogenic viruses and bacteria yet is safe for use by both adults and children. Its high betel-extract content makes it an attractive, cost-effective alternative to regular alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
The International Innovation, Invention and Creation Exposition (IIICE) 2018 was organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with the theme Innovation to Advance, Invention to Survive.
