Aspiring to be a transformative global healthcare provider, Management and Science University (MSU) Private Specialist Hospital in Shah Alam MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) instils and advocates the wholesome well-being of society for a better future. A year ago, MSUMC received certification for Safety and Quality in Health Care by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH). Keeping every sphere of difference aside, MSUMC forges innovative ways to remain united in delivering comprehensive and coordinated services to patients.

The MSUMC Merdeka Fiesta 2023 served as a pivotal initiative to foster unity within our society. As a vital element of the University’s flagship programme, MSUMC united as a cohesive healthcare system to commemorate both the 66th anniversary of Malaysia’s Independence Day in 2023 and Malaysia Day 2023.

At the launching event, the founder of MSU and MSUMC, Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, took the stage to address the esteemed attendees.

“A slogan will never be enough to convey the genuine meaning of independence. It is completely our obligation to uphold our shared purpose and ideals, regardless of the career or position you are in. I wish for the people of MSUMC the freedom to truly serve their communities and the world by providing the highest quality healthcare possible.”

Also present in the launching ceremony were Tuan Haji Zahri Abd Ghani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MSUMC; Professor Dr Badrisyah Idris, Medical Director of MSUMC; Dr Ruzaimi Md Yusof, Chairman of the Medical Dental Advisory Committee; MSUMC and MSU staff; and representatives from the PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre of MSUMC.

The Merdeka Fiesta, which took place on September 6 in the MSUMC Exhibition Hall, was enhanced by the inclusion of a Merdeka performance by the MSUMC Physiotherapist Team in honour of World Physiotherapy Day, which is celebrated annually on September 8.

In the spirit of embracing its profound significance, the Merdeka Fiesta features a variety of activities, such as Aerobic & Zumba sessions and the Merdeka Craft Contest, enthusiastically embraced by staff from every department. Out of the numerous creative entries, the top six crafts were selected for recognition, with the Medical Record Department, Nursing Division, and Rehabilitation Department securing the first, second, and third places, respectively. Additionally, the teams from the Radiology Department, Pharmacy Department, and Labour Room clinched the fourth to sixth positions. To make the celebration more inclusive and memorable, a colouring contest was also carried out for the paediatric patients.

On top of everything, the fiesta was also accompanied by booths for Make-Up and Skin Care by Mary Kay, Dental Screening, BMI, Eye Screening, Physiotherapy, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The legendary Milo Truck and Rojak Karim made for a joyful afternoon.

The Merdeka Fiesta was a resounding success, with the generous sponsorship of Canon Medical Systems Sdn Bhd, Mardhiyyah Hotel and Suites, and Hong Leong Assurance.
