There was an atmosphere of boundless excitement and anticipation. Not only were the young brains eager to demonstrate their academic prowess, but they were also sincerely committed to the pursuit of greatness in whatever they did. One must never discount the importance of technology's role in expanding one's horizons, deepening one's understanding, and encouraging originality and critical thinking.  The MSU National Infohunt Challenge 2023 is a celebration of the university's 20 years of dedication to moulding individuals' holistic and integrated development through the dissemination of knowledge.

Organised by the Learning and Resource Centre (LRC) at MSU in collaboration with Bahagian Sumber Teknologi Pendidikan (BSTP) of Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM) and Sektor Sumber dan Teknologi Pendidikan (SSTP) of Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri, this year’s edition has adopted the theme ‘Merdeka Day: The Excellence continuous’ in conjunction with the celebration of the 66th Independence Day and Malaysia Day in 2023. This theme underscores the importance of the spirit of unity and togetherness as a fundamental element in this competition.

Present in the Closing and Prize Giving Ceremony of MSU National Infohunt Challenge 2023 were Dato Rosli Yusof, Senior Vice President Endowment & Communication of MSU; Zainal Abbas, Pengarah Bahagian Sumber dan Teknologi Pendidikan, KPM; Suzana Hamzah, Chief Librarian, LRC; Miskiah Tijan, Vice President for Engagement & Enrolment; Tuan Hj. Paridon Hj. Sahid, Timbalan Pengarah Bahagian Sumber dan Teknologi Pendidikan; officers from BSTP and SSTP; senior management team of MSU; and resource centre teachers at schools.

Seventy-two schools from all throughout Malaysia took part this year, making it the largest-ever national participation. 5421 students from various academic backgrounds and streams participated, while on the national level, 864 pupils qualified to represent their schools and states.

This year's competition stands out for its unique format, as it is not only conducted face-to-face but also in a hybrid manner. This innovative approach enables schools from Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan to participate on an equal footing in this prestigious program through Zoom links.

The significance of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) for participants is integrated into the program's questions and assignments, making it stand out from similar offerings. The goals are in line with the competition's objective of fostering the quality of education and knowledge to liberate one's potential through an engaging learning experience, so they were drawn from SDGs 4 (Quality Education), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).

Various metrics were employed to assess the participants. At each checkpoint, which spanned from locations such as the MSU Library and Resource Centre, lecture theatres, SCD foyers, The Link, and the Residence, distinct sets of tasks had to be completed.

The Speed Test Challenge is a contest that measures a participant's ability to type quickly and precisely while minimising spelling and grammatical errors.
