Graduating! What’s next?

Choosing what to pursue for your future and where might be one of the hardest decisions you would have to make. You will always have questions flitting in your mind such as, “What career path is right for me?” or “Will I be employed after completing the programme?” and the list goes on.

But did you know that MSU has the highest graduate employability among all the higher learning institutions in Malaysia? Until now, MSU graduates remain the popular choice among employers.

A graduate tracer study conducted by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education shows 98.6% of MSU graduates join the work environment within six months of their graduation.

Building your employability at MSU

Let’s take two of our alumni success stories for instance, both of which brought home to MSU the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS)-Chemical Company of Malaysia Berhad (CCM) Gold Medal two years in a row.

MSU Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Technology (Honours)

Bachelor of Pharmacy alumna Sumarni Hayu Kusmahani Mattasan and Preejashini John Jayaraj respectively received the 2015 and 2016 awards for their outstanding academic and extra-curricular accomplishments.

MSU Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours)

The MPS-CCM Gold Award is presented annually to top final year students completing pharmaceutical programmes at local public as well as private universities.

What are they doing now that they have graduated? Sumarni is currently working as a provisionally registered pharmacist (PRP) with Malaysia’s largest generic manufacturer of fertilizers, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, industry key-player CCM. As for Preejashini, she is now a pharmacist at Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai, Johor.

MSU Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
MSU Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours)

Both Sumarni and Preejashini share the same recipes to excel. Besides hard work and dedication, they were very actively involved in extra-curricular activities.

MSU Bachelor in Cardiovascular Technology (Honours)
MSU Bachelor in Nursing (Honours)

“MSU played a major role in molding me to become the person I am today. My journey at MSU taught me a lot, especially in building my character, leadership qualities, and soft skills. I was also very active in extra-curricular activities,” said Preejashini when asked on how MSU transformed her to be where she is now.

MSU Diploma in Radiotherapy
MSU Diploma in Physiotherapy

As Malaysia’s best teaching and learning university, MSU gives priority to quality education and the importance of creative teaching methodologies towards producing quality and holistic graduates.

Besides incorporating international exposure in the students learning experience, extensive industrial training components and personal enrichment competency elements are also blended into its programmes of study to ensure high graduate employability.
