MSU Academy, formerly referred to as the Continuing & Extended Education Centre (CEDEC), is the hub where the Management and Science University (MSU) offers Microcredential, Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), and short courses. As an advocate for lifelong learning, MSU Academy provides courses that require adaptability concerning the timeframe and overall execution of their academic pursuits. In addition to professional development programmes, affiliated international students can participate in summer programmes and youth programmes offered by the Academy.

Every month, MSU Academy Preview Day serves to promote and highlight to the public and industry sectors flexible learning options and programmes. With regard to the February session, an orientation and induction session were administered for the new learners, which was succeeded by an APEL A aptitude test and workshop.

Introduced and approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), APEL expands the opportunities for adult learners with substantial work experience but lacking academic credentials to pursue higher education. At present, ten locations at MSU, including Sabah and Sarawak, provide APEL A (Access) and APEL C (Credit Transfer) at T-3 (Certificate), T-4 (Diploma), T-6 (Bachelor’s degree), and T-7 (Master’s degree) levels. These options enable prospective students to take the APEL Aptitude Test as an alternative pre-qualification for admission to higher education.

Microcredential is a concise, competency-based credential that provides learning assessments that are adaptable and uncomplicated for industry-required initiatives. These modular programmes will enable exemptions from MSU academic programmes.

Music, hospitality, culinary arts, fashion and beauty, accountancy and finance, business and marketing, media science and graphics, medical and health sciences, language and communication, education and social sciences, as well as information science and technology, are among the fields in which microcredentials are provided.

Supporting the MSU Academy were the faculties by displaying and highlighting the faculty programmes. They are the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA) with manicure and cake decoration demos to promote beauty and hair management and patisserie, respectively; the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) with an engineering machine to promote mechanical engineering programmes; the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS) with a nutrition pyramid to promote nutrition programmes; the School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS), with children’s education tools to promote early childhood education programmes; the School of Pharmacy (SPH) with traditional Chinese supplements to promote traditional Chinese medicines programmes; the Faculty of Business management and Professional Studies (FBMP) with HR and Law & Commerce to promote business management programmes; and MSU College Shah Alam with their table setting to promote certificate programmes.
