Management and Science University (MSU) through the MSU Medical and Health Sciences Cluster has held the 20th edition of the International Medical, Pharmaceutical, Cosmeceutical, and Health Science (iMPaCHS) Symposium.
Carrying the theme Advancing Health Science Innovations through Interdisciplinary Collaboration, the May edition of the biannual iMPaCHS was organized by MSU’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS).
iMPaCHS 20’s keynote address Experimental Rat Models Induced with Cardiovascular Diseases was delivered by National University of Malaysia (UKM) Career Advancement Centre deputy director and UKM Faculty of Health Sciences lecturer of Biomedical Science at the Centre of Toxicology and Health Risk Study (CORE) Associate Professor Dr Satirah Zainal Abidin.
Bagging iMPaCHS 20’s Junainah Merit Award is Pavithren Aaron Mahesa from the Bachelor in Bioinformatics (Hons) programme at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS), for his exploration of phytochemical drugs as a novel approach to targeting GPCR receptors in the management of long COVID.
In first place as Best Oral Presenter Undergraduate category is Eng Yi Ru from the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) programme at the School of Pharmacy (SPH), for Formulation and Evaluation of High Density and Magnetic Gastro Retentive Drug Delivery System of Sulpiride in vitro. In second and third places, respectively, are Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS) students Farha Ainin Sofia Muzaffar from the Bachelor in Nutrition (Hons) programme for her comparative cross-sectional study of sleep quality, diet quality, and weight status between COVID-19 patients and non-COVID-19 patients among adults residing in the Klang Valley; and Dinesh Davagandhi from the Bachelor in Bioinformatics (Hons) programme for his identification of natural remedies for long COVID based on hub gene biomarkers and repurposed drugs.
The award for Best Oral Presenter (Postgraduate) went to Bachelor in Bioinformatics (Hons) Alya Khaizura Azman for her Optimization of the Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Kaempferia Parviflora Rhizome Extract.
In first, second, and third places respectively for Best Poster Presentation are Nur Hidayah Md Isa from the Bachelor in Food Service Technology (Hons) programme at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS), for Effect of Pomegranate Peel Powder on Barrier, Structural and Antimicrobial Properties of Corn Starch Film as Active Packaging; Pravin Kumar Vijayakumar from the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Hons) programme at the International Medical School (IMS), for Lifelong Learning Among Older Adults in Malaysia; and Thivya Goh from the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) programme at the School of Pharmacy (SPH), for Development and Validation of UV-VIS Spectroscopic Method of Assay of Ketoconazole in Palm Oil Cream Base.
