As time has progressed and technology and innovation have taken the reins, the entrepreneurial landscape has grown in depth and stability. Comparatively, the consistent process of networking is a crucial aspect of the success of any venture. What one connects with now could be the starting point for something bigger down the line. There are no limits to what can be accomplished when a group of creative, resourceful, and forward-thinking people get together.

The Graduate School of Management (GSM) of the Postgraduate Centre (PGC) at Management and Science University (MSU) conducted the first installment of the Postgraduate Power Entrepreneurship Network (PPEN) in 2023. The central goal of this event was to facilitate the creation of a vibrant business entrepreneurial network by bringing together postgraduate students and professionals who had carved out themselves in their fields, hence enhancing opportunities for information sharing and collaboration. All the participants had a rewarding and interesting experience as a result, which helped to foster the expansion of their professional networks and improved their understanding of entrepreneurship in the modern-day context of the world.

A total of 121 postgraduate participants joined the PPEN 2023 event. This comprised 109 students enrolled in the Master in Business Administration (MBA) programme, along with 10 postgraduates pursuing doctoral degrees hailing from China, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia.

The networking event featured two enlightening sharing sessions, with two exceptional MBA graduates serving as speakers.

Dr. Mohamad Sukeri Abdullah, leading the enterprise operations section at Celcomdigi, expertly demystified the intricacies of 5G technology and its practical implementation. In a constantly evolving technological landscape, his insights offered attendees a deep understanding of the prevailing industry trends and the limitless potential that 5G brings to the table.

Lenny Juvena Azmi, the Group Chief Financial Officer & Strategic Planning Specialist for Brunei and Malaysia at VHCC Global Ventures, VHC Company, and Yiwu VHC Co. Ltd., not only shared her invaluable experiences but also provided guidance on establishing herself in her role. She has defied numerous challenges, demonstrating resilience and determination, especially in the face of gender-based obstacles.

Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, the esteemed President and Founder of MSU, is a luminary in the realm of entrepreneurship. He launched the flagship event and, with his remarks, ignited a passionate spirit of entrepreneurship among the attendees.

“Education is an invaluable investment. Prioritising time, resources, and finances for a brighter future, the path to completing your postgraduate studies is both challenging and ultimately rewarding. Success in this journey hinges on qualities like perseverance, discipline, unwavering commitment, and fostering a clear, determined mindset. It is crucial to recognise that your postgraduate journey begins with your personal initiative, even in the face of external, uncontrollable factors. The changing landscape of job prospects, as indicated by the World Economic Forum, underscores the evolving nature of skills needed to thrive. It is not just the credentials on paper that matter; it is how you build upon them that counts the most. Here at MSU, we are committed to cultivating two types of graduates: those who seek jobs and those who create them. The choice of which path to follow is yours to make.”

At the forefront of the event were Professor Dr. Abdul Jalil Ghazali, the Senior Vice President for Industry Linkages & Entrepreneurship; Professor Dr. Indang Ariati Ariffin, the Vice President for Research & International Affairs; Professor Dr. Zunirah Mohd Talib, the Dean of GSM; Siti Amzidalina Ghazali, the Director of Continuing & Extended Education Centre (CedEC); Dato’ Nasharuddin Shukor, the Vice President for Business & Enterprise Development; and Associate Professor Asmahani Aswaddalai, the Director of Quality Assurance & Audit (Business Management & Social Sciences), among others.

The MBA programme benefits from the guidance and oversight of 20 lecturers from both the GSM and the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP).
