Tall at 172cm, Nurul Asyiqin Jamil Faisal certainly qualifies for beauty pageants; yet the lass who is currently studying Diploma in Management at MSU Learning Centre had been hesitant.

“Modelling is something I had dreamed of since young, but when it comes to international competitions it can be not so easy when you’re the only one in hijab.”

Naming her dad and uncle as staunch supporters of her pageantry dreams, Nurul Asyiqin is out to prove that challenges or boundaries shall be no reasons keeping her from flying high. She took her first step into international competition and proudly represented Malaysia at the Miss Tourism Queen Worldwide 2019 in the Philippines. Peer competition came from 25 other countries including Finland, Poland, Mexico, and South Africa, and Malaysia was one among a few others fielding two candidates.

“Coming from culturally diverse Malaysia, I had no problems mixing with the other candidates.  Moreover, at MSU, inter-cultural competency is greatly emphasized and actively cultivated through community engagement work as well as shared celebrations.”

At the pageant, Nurul Asyiqin offered choral speaking for her performance section. Focused as she was on exploring other cultures and learning from the international experience, she singled out an important element carrying her through to winning her title at the Miss Tourism Queen Worldwide 2019.

“Differences are what make us all unique. Others will complement what we individually lack, and confidence will take you far.”

Queen of Peace Nurul Asyiqin Jamil Faisal is set to embark on her modelling career, starting with a fashion show this November.

“Thanks to MSU Learning Centre for making it possible for me to manage all this with my studies.”
