The establishment of the MSU Centre for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (MyCAM) is anchored on the idea of setting up a non-mainstream medical practice with integrative medicine, to be used in conjunction with traditional medicine as an improvement to healthcare quality.

This COE serves as a focal point for national and international joint research in evidence-based studies for alternative therapeutic disciplines and diagnostic procedures such as acupuncture, remedial massages, restorative physical movement therapies, herbal medicines, and many others. This centre aims to be one of the top centres of reference for developing uniform guidelines for all integrative medicine procedures and practices. In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), the centre's faculty is committed to ensuring that healthcare services provided to the public are of the highest quality. In order to manage and synergise updates conferred by the medical world in therapeutics and diagnoses, research and development activities to understand and integrate complementary and alternative medications are carried out among the fellows and researchers via fundamental and clinical studies at MyCAM.

Among the services provided by MyCAM is practised by MSU Traditional and Complementary Medicine (TCM) Clinic. The aim is to provide comprehensive state-of-the-art healthcare to members of the community by integrating non-mainstream practices with conventional western medicine. Keeping in mind the importance of reserving the traditional medicines that have archaic values, the clinic proceeds to coalesce them with the current modern medicine to enhance diagnoses through the modern diagnostic facilities and expertise at MSUMC in determining the underlying causes of diseases.

It is believed that the combination of traditional and modern medicines at an adequate balance may create a thorough and comprehensive treatment that is steadfastly in line with our Medical Centre’s motto of Caring, Healing and Educating.
