1. Migrant Worker Health Research (MigWhealth)

    Description: Migrant Worker Health Research (MigWhealth) is a network of researchers from multidisciplinary backgrounds to address health related issues faced by the migrant workers community. We work together with NGOs, other research institutes, and our postgraduate and undergraduate research students. Four highlights of this group are quality of life, stress, communicable/non-communicable diseases, and women's health. We employ health consultations, technology applications and policies to enhance the knowledge gap of the migrant workers for better health promotion.

    Description: Marine science research focuses on applied science of marine organisms in biomedical field.

  5. CaRes - Cardiovascular Research

    Description:
    • The group conducts research about cardiovascular disease and its risk factors; cardio-metabolic disorders using intact animals, cell studies and molecular analysis.
    • The group focuses on the study of effects of herb extracts (ie. herbal coffee) on reducing the risk factors of cardiovascular diseases (hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia and hypertension).
    • In the Knowledge Transfer Project, the group engages with community to create awareness about the risk factors and practices of cardiovascular diseases.

    Description: Researches of this group focus on functional food development; evaluation of food safety and quality; and investigation of food structures as affected by food processing techniques.

  12. Computational Drug Discovery of Hypothetical Protein

    Description: Over the last decade, more than 150 complete genomes of diverse bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes have been sequenced, and many more are currently in the pipeline. Our research group focuses on investigating hypothetical proteins available in prokaryote genomes through bioinformatics approach. We focus on annotating hypothetical proteins functionally, structurally, and in computational designing of novel drug and vaccine targets.

    Description: ViBa is a research team comprising of researchers from various areas of Microbiology such as scientific Molecular Microbiology, Virology, Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology. Our group’s main focus is on bacteriophage and bacteria research. Bacteriophages are viruses which infect and kill bacteria. We believe bacteriophage research to be an area of extreme importance, with great potential still to be explored and exploited in the development of new treatments for infectious diseases. We support collaborative researches that help establish the safety and efficacy of phage therapy for key applications. Our goal also includes education regarding phage therapy for medical, scientific, and general population in Malaysia and abroad.

    Description: ForCriM is a multi-disciplinary research team comprising of researchers from various areas of Forensics such as Forensic Anthropology, Criminology, Forensic Odontology, Forensic Medicine and Forensic Chemistry. Areas of interests include, amongst others: crime analysis, footprints, age estimation, gender determination, behavioural studies, postmortem changes and toxicological analysis. We have working associations with various organisations and law enforcement agencies. We support collaborative research that helps advance the science of forensic.
