The Centre for Fundamental Studies (CFS), in collaboration with Kelab Mutiara Hati and Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam (PMI) of the Management and Science University (MSU), conducted the fourth edition of the MSU Quranic League (MQL) championship for MSU Ihya Ramadan 2024. One thousand seventy-six participants from 79 institutions took part in the competition, which spanned four categories: intervarsity, secondary schools, adults, and children.

Thirty-six higher education institutions namely, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) (Gambang, Gombak, and Kuantan), Darul Quran Jakim, Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia Kampus Ipoh, Jakarta Global University (JGU), Lincoln University College, MSU College (Sabah, Terengganu, Shah Alam), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) (Miat, Melaka, Cheras, Johor, Perak), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al Sultan Abdullah, Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, University Malaya, University of Cyberjaya, The University of Manchester (United Kingdom), and Yarmouk University (Jordan);

22 secondary schools such as Maahad Al Iman Li Ulumil Quran, Maahad Integrasi Tahfiz Sains dan Teknologi Klang (Alam Impian), MRSM Kota Putra, MRSM Ulul Albab Sungai Besar, SAM Paya Jaras, SAMTAJ, SBP Integrasi Rawang, Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Tengku Ampuan Jemaah, Sekolah Bina Insan YMSU, Sekolah Menengah Islam Hidayah (Johor Bahru), Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan Mempaga Bentong, SM Agama Sains Kuala Pilah, SM Imtiaz YT Kemaman, SMA MAIWP, SMAP Bentong, SMK Agama Kuala Selangor, SMK Segambut Jaya, SMK Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, SMK TTFI Jaya, SMKA Dato’ Haji Abu Hassan Haji Sail, SMKA Kuala Lumpur, and SMKA Kuala Selangor; and

22 primary schools: Sekolah Rendah Integrasi Teras Islam Subang, Akademi Al-Quran Amalillah, Bukit Rahman Putra, Integrated Islamic School Shah Alam, Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran Wa As Sunnah, Madrasah Baitur Rahmah, Madrasah Tahfiz Integrasi Sheikh Izzudin, Sekolah Rendah Integrasi Teras Islam, Darul Amilin, Sekolah Kebangsaan Minden Height, Sekolah Rendah Agama Integrasi Sungai Manggis Kuala Langat, Sekolah Rendah Islam Rizq Kajang, SK Bukit Tinggi (Klang), SK Kanchong Darat, SK Puncak Alam 2, SK Seremban 2A, SK Taman Desa 2, SRAI Bandar Baru Bangi, SRII Integrated Tahfiz, SRITI Imtiaz Banting Baru, Taski Abim Shah Alam, and Vinland Elementary School (the United States of America) were the participants, comprising 252 individual and 824 group participants.

 

 

The closing ceremony of MQL took place in the Chancellor Hall of the main campus at MSU. Joining in via Zoom were participants from other local and global universities. Officiating the ceremony was Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, the President of MSU.

Muhammad Aqlan Mohd Nazree of the Bachelor in Law and Commerce (Hons) programme at the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP), Amr Toulat Abed Araydah of the Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) programme at the Faculty of Information Science and Engineering (FISE), Afie Muhammad Nazrul Razi of Yayasan MSU’s Sekolah Bina Insan (SBI) in Puchong, Ustaz Muhammad Umar Mansu of the Islamic Cultural Centre (ICC), and Mus’ab Umair Mohd Sulaiman of Sekolah Rendah Islam Hira (Klang), rendered quranic recitation to officially unveil the ceremony.

 

 

The Higher Education Institution category presented 18 winners in six sub-categories.

In the Hafazan competition, Izzati Norazmi (University Malaya) and Badrul Aziz Abdul Razak (Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah) took first place in the Juz 1–10 and Juz 30 sub-categories, respectively.

Mohamad Nasrullah Hassanudin (Universiti Tenaga Nasional) and Muhammad Nuh Hambali Halim (Politeknik Shah Alam) emerged victorious in the Tahriri Juz 1–10 and Juz 30 categories, respectively.

Winning first place for Tilawah Al-Quran and Qira’ah Al-Quran are Irsyad Syaqeef Borhan (Universiti Tenaga Nasional) and Lutfiah Baqlis Abdul Latif (University of Cyberjaya), respectively. 

Six sub-categories in the Secondary School category presented 18 winners. 

Zarif Syahir Syahrin of SMK Segambut Jaya in Kuala Lumpur emerged as the champion for Hafazan Juz 1–10, whilst Nur Anis Syuhada M. Azhar of SBPI Rawang for Hafazan Juz 30

Ainul Faqihah Ani (Sekolah Menengah Islam Hidayah, Johor Bahru) and Muhammad Rayyan Hazim Mohd Aseanazmi (SBP Integrasi Rawang) claimed first place in the Tahriri Juz 1–10 and Juz 30 sub-categories, respectively. 

Tilawah Al-Quran and Qira’ah Al-Quran sub-categories were won by Tengku Muhammad Khalis Tengku Ezwardi (SMK TTDI Jaya) and Syed Alif Farhan (Sekolah Bina Insan YMSU), respectively. 

Eighteen winners were announced in the six sub-categories for the Open (Adult) category. 

The Hafazan competition saw Muhammad Nur Aizad Azahari and Muhammad Aizuddin Ismail triumphing in the Juz 1–10 and Juz 30 categories, respectively.  Similarly, Ahmad Shamil Fathi Abdul Razif and Anis Aqila Abdul Rahman emerged victorious in the Tahriri Juz 1–10 and Juz 30 categories, respectively.

Husna Saifulzaman and Ahmad Zuhdi Mohd Nazri from MSU College Terengganu clinched first place in the Tilawah Al-Quran and Qira’ah Al-Quran sub-categories, respectively.

Two sub-categories in the Children (7–12 years old) category presented six winners. 

Muhammad Thaqif Muhamad Radhi (SK Bukit Tinggi) achieved a double win, bagging first place in both the Hafazan Juz 30 and Qira’ah Al-Quran categories.
